I have this gut feeling someone other than Philipsen is gonna take it today. But when I think back, who actually managed to match his speed on a flat finish thus far?
Bizarelly, the only one I can name is Cav in stage 7 if he didn't have that problem with his gears.
And mayyybe Bauhaus if his timing would be better. But even that is a stretch.

Thought Ewan got pretty close on whatever stage that was. 4?

Wout said that if his wife goes into labor during the race, it's a "no brainer" for him.

I assume it means it's a no brainer that he will go to the birth of his child, but it wasn't 100 percent clear to me.

I think we should get a split screen of this, Wout's thinking, that is

Do you know something I don't know?
Just because he was driving while drunk doesn't necessarily mean he's an alcoholic.
No, but it definitely has some Ullrich vibes. He was also extreme with his drinking during and after his career.

I wasn't there at the time of the conception, so I don't know exactly when the child is due.

If the child comes after the Tour he will finish it - I mean the Tour.

If his wife gives birth during the Tour he will leave - I mean the Tour.

Alpecin is fine calling that bluff. They have 3 wins and green, what do they care? Lotto/Ewan need this more than anyone (and have the most realistic shot at it, imo).
are they though, 4 wins is better than 3 wins to a greater extent than 3 top 3 finishes is better than 2.

Anyway, the break probably won't be strong enough for it to really matter.

do any of the teams use Michelin tyres ? I just keep expecting to see the Michelin man pop up when they visit Clermont Ferrand like Didi suddenly appearing at the side of the road :)

Strong tailwind on the last Ks of todays stage.

It makes it conceivable for someone strong to pull an "Ekimov" and cheat the sprinters.

It probably won't happen, but people like Küng, Bjerg and Castroviejo who don't have a sprinter and can push insane speeds over 2-3 K, could actually make it work if they go at the roundabout at 3 K or the one at 2.5 K.

Brest: Dry, 26-28°C, winds 2-4 m/s NNW
Toulouse: Dry, 27-29°C, winds 2-5m/s NW
Nice: Sunny, 28-30°C, winds 3-4 m/s NW

Where are you heading?
I wish I was heading to somewhere in France. Probably in the future. I just came home a week ago from Greece and there it was really sunny/hot atm.

Anyway, was just asking because it is raining like crazy where I am at and could have been a tricky stage if it was raining on the stage today as well.
