You're missing it.

It seems like you didn't read the original post I replied to ;)

I did read the part you quoted but apparently seem to miss something in your point.

We know Pogacar won the last times and mountain finishes that should suit him as you wrote - but that does not neccesarily have to change the tactics of JV?
I believe they are trying long term pressure with hard race and expect him to get tired in the last week. There are stages to come which are much harder and have the possibility to be far more decisive than the ones Pogacar won over Vingegaard. But in the end it all comes down to who has the best form and cope with the agressive racing.

Time will tell and until then I will enjoy the attacks  It is way more fun than watching US postal in front all day and then Armstrong showing off on the last climb.

Today I expect UAE (can see it is alredy in play) will hold the break in striking range, so Pogacar can go for bonus seconds in the end. He knows he might need every second and love to win stages. Therefore they will have to use the team and JV can relax until we hit Grand Colimbier and they will make sure the pace is up.

Props to Trek sending their best climber in the break!
Once again they made it:rolleyes: Sometimes I think they should just stop riding and take a free ride - if the gap get big enough, then they can contribute.

The same goes for quick-step who have Asgreen in the break - he will need something like 6-10 minutes at the bottom of Grand colimbier to win this stage.

Lol, funniest interview of the Tour with Georg Zimmermann:

Kasper Højstrup (who to Zimmermann's credit is the most annoying person involved in cycling): How will it be like to ride on the Bastille Day.

GZ: Like, I'm German, so I don't care about the French national day.

KH: You don't think it will be extra special riding today?

GZ: No, I don't think so.

Who says ze German's have no sense of humour?

That break COULD crack UAE and pull out 5+ minutes, especially because there is a bit of crosswind.

But way too many of them are not doing the work, so we are looking at a pretty pointless break, that will get caught on the first few K of the climb.

As said yesterday, Jumbo should have put guys in the break and drive it hard, to force UAE to commit the entire team to the chase.

Now this is being played exactly like Pogacar wants it.
