nah just nah

Pog rode 3.3 s/km quicker than anything
for reference, he rode 2.2 s/km quicker in 2020 final TT

But Vinge on top of that rode 4.4 s/km quicker and 7.6 compared to Van Aert... just out of this world. Pogi was strong. Stronger than 2020.
Pog rode a better TT, than in 2020.

Saying he rode a bad one is insane.

Someone was just 2 levels above today.

I think he may have done something like 6.7 watts/kg on this course or he reduced his frontal area ~ 10% compared to others

I hope that at least he will be consistent and put another 2-3 minutes into Pogacar as Pogi is done after this "terrible" tt, for sure he will crack given how tired he was today according to some experts around here.
Exactly... if Vinge doesnt put another minute into him and wins the Queen-stage, something is fishy.

He already has two Tours. Time to win more monuments and the Giro/Vuelta after this.

Send Ayuso/Almeida next time to the Tour.
No need for any teamwork since Jumbo will control the race anayway. So just stick to their wheels, and go at own pace when Jonas goes and podium is yours

Does this validate the theory that Vinge has incredible restitution?
He was really impressive in the tt last year and this course was more unforgiving.

That Vinge and Pog would smoke the others on the climb I was certain of and I even thought that Vinge should be a bit stronger than Pog on pure MTT-riding. One thing that stood out was Vinge's downhill and cornering, he had this stage really nailed down and clearly took some risks.

Pog rode well but looked a bit laboured in the end and apparently Vinge took lots of time from 3rd timecheck to finish, being on the TT bike on this part clearly favoured Vinge.

But Vinge of course rode the tt of his life.

Skjelmose said after his ride, that he didn't really feel he had good legs and thought he struggled in the 2nd half of the ride - but admits to being surprised what watts he was able to push and surprised by the end result (interview made when he was still in 2nd).

Same as always. Without a doubt the best thing ever done in this forum was moving them elsewhere.
I respectively disagree.

I believe any rider officially sanctioned should be fair game in the racing threads. Because the racing threads also become ridiculous when posters make ludicrous comparisons to riders who have been sanctioned and whose performances were proven to be completely fraudulent.

My 2 cents.

Pog said he wasn't feeling great in the second half. I believe him to be sane.
I just don't think that says anything meaningful. It's a TT with a climb in the back half. I'm pretty sure no one was feeling great at that point. Could be that he went out too hard, could be he was disheartened by the splits, I just don't think him saying that means he was on bad form or something. He rode a phenomenal race. Now, if he suddenly has a DNS tomorrow due to Covid, that's another story.

That remains to be seen tomorrow. This performance seemed a bit outlandish, not dissimilar to pogacar himself in 2020. I dearly hope I'm wrong, but ever since the dark days my antennae twitch when people open huge gaps on relatively short TT's all of a sudden. Quite frankly the whole thing with Pogacar and Vingegaard so head and shoulders above just anyone else, even other former GT winners, requires a healthy dose od suspension of disbelief to begin with.

I guess tomorrow will be a pretty good indication if Vingegaard just shot all his ammo today or Pogacar tanked. Although still coming 2nd while tanking...
Normal for him, last year he tanked and yet came second by 5 mins

Let's keep real here, Pogačar didn't tank whatsoever, he put more than a minute into the third rider, Van Aert, which is really good shape as we know, what Vingegård did today is well above from what Pogačar did in 2020 and I don‘t believe for a second that Vingegård is going to suffer tomorrow, for reasons that I explored more in another part of the forum and because I have never seen him having a truly bad day.
