I think bobsledders would be more effective. Interesting thing in that final Giro time trial—that had specific line beyond which no pushing was allowed. I think to try and mitigate against riders gaining too much of an advantage from the push. They couldn’t mitigate Thomas bike-helmet change deficit however.

All we need now is a Jamaican TT-specialist
 
Constant execution of power is actually not optimal on a varying course like this. If for example half of a TT (time-wise) is flat and half is uphill it's actually better to reduce power by a few % on flat and increase it uphill. It's because speed changes almost linearly with power on a steep climb (so power matters a lot then) while it's closer to cube root of power for high-speed sections (so lower relative speed/time loss if power is reduced a bit).
