Another look at the splits - It's T3 - finish that Vinge absolutely obliterated everyone.

T1-2 he's similar to the best split (Cavagna), T2-3 again similar (to Ciccone). T3 - finish he's just obliterated everyone, Pog included.

Part of me is thinking that this, whilst clearly exceptional, in a relatively short TT is not actually a million miles away from what we'd have expected when looking at how far ahead these two were of the rest of the field when it came to the climbs - and that maybe Pog did actually underperform by a reasonable margin today on that basis?

He was 51 seconds ahead of Cavagna from start to T2 and someone mentioned earlier the wind benefited Cavagna as he had a tailwind and it turned into a headwind later.

Vinge did what Pog did to Rogla. Great stage.

What needs to be done is UCI must make a new law stating riders must share data for every race and each rider must be weighted at sign in before the stage.

Not only would it be a great way to learn from outsiders but it would also shut up doping claims and tinfoiling. It would also make claims easier to back up if the science doesn't stick.

Personally I have no credit for the top riders. They are all in a state where they need to make us believe they are pan normal. Share all data for all stages. If they are better genetically humans, that's what sports is also about.

But it's entertaining no matter what. Kind of like politics can be. Dumb. Entertaining. Deeply prepared professionally.

And I miss journalism like David Walsh's these years. No one is talking doping. No one.

Even if he had a bad day, that still doesn't explain the gaps to everyone else Vingegaard got, the question everyone is asking isn't how was he faster than Pogacar, but how was he as fast as he was fullstop.

I'll bet you nobody in here would be making "clinic" references, if the roles had been reversed today - everyone would have just accepted that it was because "Pogacar is the best rider since Mercks".

Two incredible riders, one with a broken arm and a more loose approach to the little detailes another with the most professionel team and individuel approach to everything.

I love Pog and of course Jonas, this is one of the hardest ITT for a long time, with favoring these two over specialist and climbers. The time gaps are insane, but make sanse, when no 9 is Mads P and the heat is Pogs cryptonite and he doesn't have those racing miles i the bank.

Was this a flag ITT with Everyone there it would t happen. Sad to hear people talking doping, when things ad up without.

fairly normal as at those gradients being tucked on a TT bike would probably be an advantage still.

that said, he was the dominant rider.

exactly why i absolutely love the race of truth!

so many here want everything to stay close, but dominant rides and dramatic collapses are specifically what makes the racing memorable.

this has been a great TDF. It was missing that dominant exploit. here's hoping Jonas pulls a Thevenet (over the Izouard in 1975) and puts everything to rest tomorrow with another exploit.

the only problem with the main contestants is that personality-wise, they are kinda milk toast. this is not hinault, merckx, fignon, ocana, even lemond...

Not with such an insane gap, I don't believe that. Pogacar has more fans, but 1:40 would be like 1 min faster than the dreams of his fans before the stage.
