Since your post did not provide any information. A quick google search shows that Danes cannot have two surnames. I guess Vingegaard is his middle name then, which he got from his mother's surname.

Yes and it is more and more common to keep the most interesting name and dump the normal name (if you are allowed). I've seen that a lot among friends in the last 15 years. People want to be special

That's become normal in Denmark. Famous footballer Preben Elkjaer actually has the name Preben Elkjaer Larsen, but he dropped the Larsen part. That's typically because the middle names are more "interesting" than (too) common family names such as Hansen, Jensen and Larsen. Normally the middle name is from the mother.

Same goes for politicians by the way - numerous Danish prime ministers from the last couple of decades actually.

Also wild the amount of the population in Denmark that got a "sen" ending surname, recall it was like 55% of the population a few years back, same with "gaard" like Vingegaard, Lundgaard, Kirkegaard, as I understand it "gaard" means gård or "farm" in english, so its old custom to describe a person from that "farm".
