Van Aert tries to pass Philipsen on the wrong side, it's 100% his own fault and of course Philipsen closes the door on him. Luckily we won't get half of Belgium in a tizzy this time as it's still a Belgian who won.

Philipsen held his line, just the curve makes it’s tricky.

The barriers also didn't seem uniform through that curve so it looked tight and then there was some space opening up. Either way, don't think Van Aert would have won and it didn't seem he was complaining at all.

I think Philipsen left enough room on the inside for Van Aert, but that Van Art had to stop pedalling because of spectators holding arms out in front of his face.

I don't understand the rules well enough to say, but Philipsen was clearly in the middle of the road when MvdP dropped, then he cut way right, then following the curve of the road when WVA sat up, then after WVA sat up, he veered farther right so that if Wout hadn't sat up, he might have been in trouble there. Finished right against the barriers after starting slightly left of center. I like Philipsen and would like to see him keep it, but he clearly deviated. How does the curve impact it? Do they have to hold their line relative to barrers or can they cut across to take shorter path?

Uhhhh, that is debatable. Don't think Philipsen was really in the wrong because these curve finishes are just terrible for holding your line but Wout was definitely affected.
The road curved right after curving left; Philipsen maintained a reasonable gap and Wout was not alongside him at that point. No foul and Wout wasn't fast enough anyway.
He should pound his handlebars in a private place and move on as this gets tiresome.
Jasper won.

I saw an enormously motivated Cavendish in this sprint. His position in the run in together with Cees was really good, but there was a mistake in the corner in the last km. If he shows this determination in all the upcoming sprints he will get the chance and break the record i am sure of it.

Why was it the wrong side? He wanted the shortest distance through the corner.

Ooh. On the helicopter shot, it looks like maybe Wout did get cut off. Even if there wasn't a foul, he had to hold up to keep from getting crunched.
