My first full stage watch since Giro stage 4-5 (I think).
Tempo = ZzZzZ ...then me waking after sudden activity. Went for a cup of espresso.
Came back just watching break vanished and Bjerg&Asgreen chanting for a gas go.

Jokes aside... there needs to be a few stages like this as well, for the racing to be great on later stages. It is still about 180km at 40-45km/h. It adds up in the end.

Exactly... always gonna be a few stages like these ones, but these are also typically the ones where someone could lose it all before it even begins.

You are not obliged to watch, you can do something else in the mean time. The Tour de France is above all an endurance race. By further shortening stages (stages are already shorter than ever) you remove its core.

What we actually need is longer stages.
