Be interesting what Alpecin do here. They've got a favourite whether they make the race hard or sit back waiting for the sprint. Feels like they should go for VDP as Phillipsen already has a bunch of wins.

Maybe let MVDP cover attacks in the finale, and let him counter attack if he feels strong, and trust that Kragh Andersen and Hermans can assist Philipsen.

Bahrain rider will win and dedicate the win to Gino Mäder, similar to the 1995 Limoges stage:

This seems the way to play it, I think a lot of teams will be racing for a result other than a sprint so you might as well let MVDP race that race and if other people make the effort to bring it together you have enough to get your big guy there anyway.

And be grateful that you are not British. You wouldn't survive the forum whenever....whenever it's not sunny in Britain :p
Be grateful you’re not Irish. We’re still boasting about the triple crown from 1987. For 30 years Irish gt prospects have been in a black hole. We have Ben Healy who has about as much hope of winning a gt as Tom Pidcock. We are truly hopeless.
On another note, stages 5 and 6 were too interesting to post on the forum. What a race so far.

Cross-tailwind all day, shouldn't be hard enough to cause echelons, but will certainly crank up the speed and nerves in the peloton

You have pretty cool accents. And apparently you are good drinkers.

I watched all of stage 5, but none of stage 6. Though as an Aussie that was probably for the best.

We don't know the full potential of Healy yet. If he loses another 7 kilos during the next off-season, he might be there or thereabouts.

Alpecin get exactly what they want again - a 3 man break and a lot of attacking riders cooked already

I just want some vintage Mathieu thermonuclear sprint on the hardest part and celebrate with 3sec advantage.

But my guess is just the sprinters today. 700m is not that long. With a good run-in and drafting your halfway before you know/feel it. Girmay looked strong yesterday, this should be his best opportunity.
