It was a pretty good try from Visma to try and catch them out but should've stopped when Pogacar/Evenepoel were wise to it.
It was a very aggressive move but I'm not sure it was better than chasing harder with Jayco earlier, and then they got reined in by Ineos which is not... superb

L'Equipe reports that Ayuso does in fact have Covid. I hope it was just him and not any other teammates.

Ayuso a abandonné !

En difficulté depuis le début de la journée, Juan Ayuso (UAE Emirates) a abandonné. L'Espagnol a été contrôlé positif au Covid.

So Visma just dropped Tratnik from the 1st group.

Can't have him going for stages

I thought more riders in the front group would save themselves for this section now and try to split it on the hills.

UAE with the drunken monkey tactic.
Ayuso dropping out and they have Adam Yates waste energy in the breakaway before 2 big MTFs.
Today the breakaway is being kept on a tight leash, so it's a rather pointless move by him...

Yeah.

The upside is that Soudal and Ineos are more cooperative now.
