Well, I overestimated Vingo ahead of this stage, it seems. Preparation shortcomings taking their toll has always been an option but I thought they might reveal at the very end of the race.
Think you just underestimate pogacar by 2023 standards when he rode with a fractured wrist. Surprised people dont get he would be better without that even with the giro in his legs. He has ridden away from everyone entire year and entire tour I would be far more surprised if that didnt happen again today.

Great stage from UAE today, I am glad that they didn't listen those that said they should only play defence after what happened on stage 11. Its obvious that Pogačar was overambitious on that stage but today there was another chance and this time he took the most advantage of it. Sending Yates up the road before he attacked was also a good strategy making Jorgenson work and setting up Pogačar's attack. Now, with a two minute gap, UAE can now be more defensive but if Pogačar senses weakness on Vingegaard tomorrow he should attack again.

Vingegaard was still strong, but on these shallower gradients Pogačar is on another level when compared to him, I think tomorrow's finish suits him better as its a longer climb but he will probably need to hope that Pogačar's isn't as strong as today. I think that they could try send Van Aert up the road tomorrow but I don't think he has the shape to make a big difference.

Remco good once again, perhaps he went a bit over his limit trying to follow Vingegaard but he solidifies his third place. Rodriguez getting better and the best stages for him are still to come. Expect a good fight between him and Almeida for fourth place if the Portuguese doesn't have to work much. Ciccone and Gee keep doing a really good GC run.

I still think they play cautious because they made the race boring until the last mountain. A la Sky, a la US Postal, a la Jumbo V.
What some ex-cyclists and ex-coaches were saying is not to do unnecessary attacks from far or when you still have not used your team to the maximum. Today was master class tactics. Finally.

Pogacar and Yates also said initial tactic was to launch a 1km attack, so indeed ride defensively. But Pogacar must have felt really well and told Yates to attack.

Or he realised that he is at his very best and Jonas wouldn‘t be able to counter. Or maybe a bit of both, plus getting bored. His patience and attention span could be falling off a cliff
EF did the best w what they had, Visma kept pace, but UAE kept tempo so high, even for Pogacar, they really set up a great overall GC results. Jonas rode absolutely great, he knew from many gaps that he was having a tough time matching strokes w Pog and he raced accordingly. Big blows were Yates just a little short on power, Healy been riding fantastic from day one and today's effort was great yet no result. Jonas still in great shape and been given maximum respect for how long UAE waited to attack him. Pogacar has good reason to be confident, over confident,

Yes, it's obvious that Pogacar's speed was signicantly faster than Armstrong's. And at lower temperatures etc etc.
One of the interesting advances in training comes from Tadej's trainer, Iñigo San Millán. His zone 2 training technique has had obvious consequences for Tadej's career. David Millar has discussed San Milln's training techniques. He said he was in the best shape of his life after using them.

Competitive and recreational athletes have had great success with it.

What he is doing is completely unheard of and a little too easy to expect. No one since Merckx (and maybe Hinault), can race a whole season like this with shallow valleys in performance and dramatic peaks.

He has become a lot better after having changed trainer from that charlatan.
