Caught myself yelling to the tv again. Glad Remco tried to follow the initial attack and went good untill the top. Gonna give him confidence to attack Vingo the next days. But longer climbs, so expecting the 2 again better than Remco.

Problematic for Vingegaard is that he doesn't have the kick to get separation even if he wanted to attack, so he has to do those long sustained efforts where Pogacar can sit on his wheel. Reverse of 2022.
Vinge is still cooked from stage 15 by the looks of it.

He went deep into red there and felt it today.

Without teammates here he would lose over a minute to probably both Remco and Pog.

Good job by Remco.

Vingo seems to be fading - this is what a lot people expected, considering what he went through. Still, I think he keeps the 2nd spot even though Remco will try and possibly melt the lead a bit.

Never thought I'd see the day of remco dropping vinge on a climb. Maybe vinge should start thinking about the much disregarded second place.

He doesn't have to 'blow up.'.
He could lose 30- 40 seconds on both and the TT would be interesting.

Yeah, if Jonas is fading to the extent that he does lose time in the coming days you'd fancy Remco taking a good chunk in an end of race TT.

Quickstep need to be aggressively planning their options to try enable that.

They said Vingo was fading on Saturday but the next day he climbed ridiculous 1800+ m/h for 40+ minutes. Let's wait until the weekend with such conclusions, he may fade indeed or not.

That's honestly a possibility, at least on Friday. he's showing some worrying signs.
True, but i don't think today really matters in that regard then. If he blows, he's losing minutes on Friday. The seconds of loss today aren't going to matter at all really.

I don't really see it being a race. If he's done, he's getting dropped on Bonette or on the lower slopes of Isola and losing a ton of time. Likewise Saturday, he could lose minutes there too if he's suffering. I expect Pog is attacking anyway so Remco doesn't even need to attack, just wait for Pog to go and then see if you're stronger.

I suspect S.Yates went too early on the second last climb. he needed to follow wheels until the last two kms of the climb. EF got their tactics right as Carapaz should always be their pod for these types of stages.

I don't see a scenario where Vingegaard is not blowing up though where he's losing time to Remco though. He's either dead on his bike like he looked today or he's not losing time.

Perseverance pays off for Carapaz.. Well taken win. Good ride by Yates as well. Remco got some seconds back on Vingegaard but they seem pretty even at the moment.
