There are endless options to replace Saisies with a similar climb in the same part of the stage, but I guess ASO are that hellbent on making sure the sport isn't taken seriously.

I know we've all rightfully clowned on the original placement of the intermediate sprint, but I would be absolutely fuming if I was part of the town council who paid for it only to see it cancelled last minute for the sake of protecting a few farmers' feelings.

That record wasn't from the 90s but from 2004. I always thought that the record was a bit iffy because I don't think an ITT really is an advantage in that case. In the 90s Ventoux was only really raced once in 94 and that was raced differently + they had a descent and another 15km flat afterwards.

From what I understand, several of the cows had to be put down. So... I'm guessing they need the road(s) to get rid of the dead cows.

At least they didn't have to stop today's stage halfways through because cows were dropping dead on the road.

The real reason for the change is the ASO had witnessed the glory of Roglic attacking with over 100km to go and decided they'd had seen enough and could take no more.
