So it's good news for the UK media with Onley's form and the 2027 Grand Depart starting in Edinburgh. Mind you, if a certain masseur starts blabbing to the authorities, the enthusiasm might be a bit muted.

Because of sick cattle on the mountain making the herders there sad or upset? That has to be the dumbest reason to change a sporting event ever…
I only have one response to your precious, entitled view of what makes your world. Living in an agricultural dependent area and having ridden in those very Alps where the cattle are more important and productive than anyone you know to that culture you should just go find a quiet place. The long term economy there is seriously screwed and cycling "fans" have no clue. Is there no connection to these iconic locations and cultures at all?
I'm seriously embarrassed to all that embrace this butthurt disruption to their amateur prognostications.
Tadej still has to ride the last stage to win and whomever has the legs to go hard and fast impacts the gc.

The disconnection from reality on this forum from real life and real racing is painful. Go ride a bike in the country for a week or two. Ride in the rain, hot sun and in bruising wind. Do it with friends and go too far and too hard to make it home without crying or crying if you have to.
Then complain when it's relevant.

Or, you know. I sit on my couch here and complain because these riders are well paid to race these races.

Like I can barely describe how beyond sick and tired I am of this argument.

Outbreak of a cold stopped the world so i don't think cancelling one mountain on a 19th stage of a cycling race is such a problem. Outbreak of a serious disease like that has huge impact on the whole mountain/valley and the last thing they need is thousands of cars and people on the roads and everywhere else because some guys are trying to get up there on a bike. Let's put things in a perspective.

I like to see little Lenny getting a 20s sticky bottle in pursuit of the Polka dot jersey today. It would complement the VinPog circus
fittingly methinks.
Message to Simmons: Stay cool here and think stage 20 please.

Sad to hear that the stage was shortened.

I hope that Pogacar goes for the stage win, he has not anything else to save it for and the stage should now be easier to control.

Onely to take third place overall away from Red Bull.

Less climbing and shorter stage should = more explosive Rog, like on Ventoux. He's also getting better. The question is Lipowitz. He showed weakness at the end of the Dauphiné and he did a lot yesterday.

Roglic should go for the stage win and let Lipo and Onley fight directly for the podium place.

So does Vingegaard even try anymroe?

I can see it happening that with Col du Pré becoming a fresh 33 minute climb or whatever that we'll see Roglic and Lipowitz both dropping Onley and this time they will just continue riding to bury Onley

Vinge is a placement rider and Visma is obsessed with the team classification.

Roglic, Lipo and Gall to reform the HRE to drop Onley on Pre and bury him afterwards.

Visma may try something but I think it will only be for the cameras. No one believes in Pog losing 4min on a 95km mountain stage. So no action there I don't believe.

If you want fireworks you need to hope for action elsewhere, like the breakwater or battle for third, or from Pog himself. But pogacar seems very content to be in max energy saving mode. More likely to want the final stage than this one.

I'm still working on a scenario where Rog-Lipo get 15 minutes on the Vinge-Pog group.

I'm also curious to see whether the unexpected late start does anything to anyone. That sort of stuff has reportedly caused some riders issues in the past.
