You could also measure the amount of time that the following riders are beaten by. Oh, wait...
Best Tour winners by gap to second since 1990:
1. Ullrich 1997 9:09
(2.= Armstrong 1999 7:37)
2.= Nibali 2014 7:37
(4. Armstrong 2002 7:17)
(5. Armstrong 2001 6:44)

Nibali must have been really incredible in 2014! The point is that you can take the time gaps but you can‘t extrapolate that so you know how riders would have fared who weren‘t in the race.
Sure, Evenepoel wins by huge distances usually but you can‘t automatically say he would‘ve won LBL if Pogačar didn‘t crash.

Some really uplifting performances by Bernal and Ayuso which is what I was pretty much only looking for this race. Should bode for a good second half of the season, hopefully.

By the way, Carlos Rodriguez was supposed to take part in this race - anyone have a clue what happened to him?
