Is it just me, or did Sagan almost crash in the sprint? His bike kinda wobbled weirdly in the situation which caused him to bump into Degenkolb.

indeed- he almost pulled a Cavendish on Degenkolb

Well, if accidentally crashing is pulling a Cavendish... Looks like he simply lost control of his bike. Can happen to the best, even Peter Sagan.
Pulling a Cavendish is timing your sprint too early in the TdS, jumping out in front of the bunch, then having your front wheel fold in half right in front of you taking out Heinrich Haussler's career on your way to the ground.

Yes, Kitel has probably the best chance when i comes to beat Saggan wih such such a crappy route.
Matthews is a bit like an EBH who still has a good sprint after +250km.
Boasson Hagen? +250km?
Similar skillset, but Matthews still has a good sprint after +250km o racing.
Pozzovivo has to be on fire, otherwise he wouldn't test his legs on such a finish.

Are you serious? EBH and Mathews are completely different riders. Bad comparison, in my opinion.

I don't understand the point of having two ITTs in a week long stage race. What do you all think?
It´s 9 days long. Week has 7 days.

Very insightful. What's your point? I don't know if you're a troll or simply don't understand the general meaning of the phrase. So 22% of the stages are ITTs instead of 28%. If a grand tour had that percentage, there would be 4-5 ITTs.

The first one is a prologue, very short, so not a big deal if you ask me.

Then Sagan obviously did pull a Cavendish. Coz Haussler was nowhere to be seen.

Some very suspicious lack of time gaps when the group split at the finish. Im not suggesting they gave Frank the same time as the lead group only because he is swiss.... He was way back. The trio of Gilbert, Solar & Geoghegan-Hart were lucky, but that just takes the piss.

Apparently they are testing a new rule which only generates gaps between groups if there is at least a 3 seconds gap between them.

It used to be common for a TdF to have 2 long ITTs, a prologue, and a TTT. I think in 87 they had all that, plus a mountain TT up the Ventoux.

One prologue, 3 ITTs and a TTT.

Almost 210 kms of TT. One of them was almost 90 km long. Dumoulin would have won 7 or 8 minutes on everyone else (GT-wise).
And here we have people claiming this year's Giro had too much TT kms and was tailor made for guys like Dumoulin.

Forgot Hirt. I think he will be up there with Nieve.

My private ranking for tomorrow first mountain stage:
Costa
Soler
Pizzovivo
Dumoulin
Van Gardener
Izaguirre
Hirt
Mathias
Krunswick
Usually Costa doesn't do well on the first mountain stage.

Maybe you're right but this year he won first mountain stage at Vuelta de San Juan. So it's not a strict rule
Usually Costa doesn't do well on the first mountain stage at this time of the year.

Those time gaps are not going to happen.

Calmejane was winning everything at the start of the year, though seems to have gone a boil a little. Maybe trying to peak for the Tour.

Don't know if Direct Energie are going for stage wins or GC here? Either way he could be in contention over the next three days

Several riders who could have done well in GC already lost a lot of time. TvG, Reichenbach, De La Cruz, Atapuma, Dennis, Pantano and everyone on Cannondale. Of those who haven't lost several minutes I guess everyone except Izagirre will lose a lot of time in the ITT. Think Ion will do a solid time trial, like in Basque Country, but I don't see him taking time from TD in the mountains. Don't see anyone doing that, actually. Maybe Pozzo, Nieve or Soler if they're in strong shape.

Haven't been paying attention to this race at all, hopefully I will catch the next stages live now we are going into some interesting terrain. Lots of riders I like here, should be a good one. Most intrigued about Superman Lopez, of course... but should also be a good test for Betancur, one thing is hammer series, another thing ig serious racing.
