Rabobank were pretty well-set against riding, but BMC were out with a tweet that the stage was cancelled even before AEG announced it.

While the ToC stage was canceled because of slight flurries, the next Giro d'Italia stage will take the riders up Mount Doom where they will deliver Frodo and his ring.

Was really looking forward to today, now tomorrow a sprinter gets the leaders' jersey.

Who's idea was it to put on an miniature Ardennes stage at +7000ft.
I bet there are a few tv companies who won't be buying the coverage rights for next year.

If there were concerns about safety, icy roads or something, I understand. If it's merely cold, then they should just put some clothes on and race.

Bonnie Ford was out driving the route. She just tweeted that some of the climbs were too treacherous for even cars to pass. Probably made good sense to cancel the stage.

In all fairness, salt and brine are not permitted to be used on the roads at Tahoe, so icy conditions can be a problem.

But, seriously, who decided to put a Tahoe stage in mid-May??!?

Today is more proof that most riders (especially the European ones) aren't really in California to race, but rather to work on their tan and perhaps get some quality training in the sun.

TOC really has some bad luck . . . but then again . . .they don't do much to increase the odds by starting the race at Lake Tahoe in the middle of May
