You must be the only one who watched yesterday's stage, I passed on watching because, while I thought I had never seen the Tour of Guangxi before some dark memories of the scenery started coming back to me, so I must have seen it years ago and had just purged the memory from my brain...

Today (stage 2) had some great images of those lush green mounins.

Verner managed to not get squeezed by his own leadout.

No luck for Plapp. He was the only rider out of about 15 or 20 who crashed in the Olympic ITT, who was seriously injured, resulting in him missing three months. Then he crashes today in the Tour of Guangxi and is a DNF. Jayco may as well go home now , as they sent a team with no sprinter, and five of the seven riders will not be in the team in 2025.

Molano came with some real speed but too early! Vernon got the throw & IPT get two wins in two days - chapeau!

Big crash according to PCS with 203 km to go with 20 riders going down and the race was paused whilst the injured were treated and the guys got back to the peloton. Last year's GC winner Milan Vader a DNF which means Lenny VE could have a good shot this year.

Coverage of roughly only 45km left to go started around 11pm in my area and being I'm a person of a certain age it was way past my usual bedtime. So once I saw some indeed nice green scenery I fell asleep like a baby and missed the whole of what was left of the stage.

Also, regarding the crashes, I was watching a Chinese feed because Tiz with English commentary had crapped out on me... being I don't speak a lick of Mandarin or any language close to it it wasn't clear to me whether the Chinese commentators were talking about yesterday's crash or whether it was something new. So the language barrier just added to my past-my-bedtime fatigue and I fell asleep.

In Froome Dawg news he finished 110th in stage 3, at the rate of abandons for one reason or another (not sure what Fabio's reason was), Christopher Clive Froome, OBE, make just make the podium!

They won 4 stages at the Tour of Turkey.

Five actually, and the overall.

And Bittner's Vuelta win must have been a pleasant surprise.

But their two main sprinters have been rather abysmal all year. Okay, Van Uden has four wins, but he has also been given tons of chances in easy races without really showing up. No way they'll be happy with their return on investment this year. In addition to Jakobsen on presumably big money, they also signed Welten, Liepins, Van den Berg and Roosen for the leadouts.

It would not surprise me if Max Poole did very well on GC. The form is there and this course is sufficiently selective to give him a chance. Stage 4 could be better for him to make a time gap rather than stage 5.

One climb in the last 90k, a 4km climb at 6% that tops at 37k from the finish. How is Poole gonna make a difference there. This years race looks harder on paper cause the tried to find some random climbs here and there, but in the end it's just again decided on one 4km MTF, or an early break has to make it tomorrow.

I don't know if it's even possible to make this race interesting in that region.
