I chose to ignore that terrible "joke".

Please accept this apology cake, which may or may not contain honey.

For a full kilometre before the steepest part of the climb I was convince that Jan Hirt was actually our Fausto , and finally we would see him fighting for the top positions again. Still a nice result for quickstep but reality hit me at 2km to go and Fausto was not there =(

Lagelotti strong

Lotto (Van Gils) a bit too confident there in the first part of the climb. There was a slight headwind so not the smartest move to put yourself in the wind way too early. Also not in Van Gils his best interest to make the climb as hard as possible.

Jorgensen really good tho. He was keen on performing well here and he's doing it. I honeslty think he can win the whole thing, even tho Green Mountain is harder than today and will suit the pure climbers better.

Uijtdebroeckx really good too. Mauri no surprise.

I expect Hirt to be stronger on Green Mountain, clearly suits him better. Don't think he will take the overall win, he is not at the same level as last year and Jorgenson looks quite strong. Bouchard is another rider to keep an eye for the last stage.

On the contrary, Mauri should be weaker on Green Mountain, as well as Herrada, Van Gils...

he signed a two-year deal, so going by his career so far, I guess he is more likely to be stronger again in 2024. Personally he also said that his early season is all about getting in shape for the Giro.

Times got adjusted because of the fence disaster. 16th till 25th place were put at 25 seconds instead of something in between 45 and 58.
While I agree this wasn't fair I feel like some of those riders got off really cheap. No way in hell 10 riders were immediately behind it, it was a group of 4 or 5 riders that were stuck behind immediately. Yes other lost time too but they would not have finished at 25 seconds at all.

yeah, Ries, Zwiehoff, Buchmann and Hänninen, as far as I could see. The group behind wasn't even in sight when it happened

Looks like certain sprinters think they can make it. Zingle, Biermans, Gibbons, Kanter, ...
