Looks like Pelluchi took it. Good attack by czech champ from Ettix (forgot his name) disrupting the sprinters for a moment.

Vakoc.
Ahh yeah thanks.

Kittel really isn't liked. He was being shouldered all over the place in that sprint.

Yeah - in fairness to Kittel that was a rough final km for him.
But, it shows that his rivals aren't afraid to fight with his lead out and disrupt it. Just because it (was) the 'best' lead out man with the 'best' sprinter, the other teams don't pamper it and let straight through.

Fastest sprinter in the world? ;)

I'm saying it without that emoticon. He's surely as fast as Kittel, Greipel and Cav. He just doesn't have the endurance or climbing abilities to fight for stage wins in GT's..... in the past.

If he progresses, he will be a better rider overall, and also challenge the likes of Kittel in GT's. If you just look at top speed, he's perhaps the fastest sprinter on the planet.

Finishing the Vuelta will be really important for him and for his future as a rider.

Lampre has been putting three sprinters in the mix. None will win. Because when the final 100m come it's free for all. That team is clueless.

Ferrari basically led out Nizzolo today rather than Bonifazio.

Which reminds me, imagine an all-Italian sprint train:

Paolini-Guardini-Sbaragli-Ferrari-Sabatini-Felline-Viviani-Modolo-Pelucchi

He might have the fastest 100m, but I'm not sure he beats Greipel or Kristoff from 200m.

It is the most stupid sprinting team I have ever seen (fact, I havent seen much in cycling ;) Bonifazio fighting Ferrari (I suppose different jerseys misled them ;)) and this resulting in 4 and 5th place, and Modolo really close to causing another crash during sprint. Pelluchi really strong, but was given chance by van Asbroeck riding a little bit to the left.

I sort of meant fastest in the world because of that finish, because he probably clocked the highest top speed of the season. Is a shame we can never see a flat out completely even sprint between Kristoff Bouhanni Greipel kittel, 09 Cav, pelucchi etc.

But the most important thing for a sprinter is positioning, and imo, kittel doesn't have that on his own

Grande Matteo! Vai Vai!

Nobody likes a huge pile-up, but I always enjoy a Pelucchi win. He deserves it.

Because? You like him?
You have a huge dislike for sprinters that can't do anything besides sprinting. Well if anything Pelucchi is one of them :)
But who did he beat? The joint most single dimensional rider in the history of the universe, so that's why he's probably happy
Yes, because I like him. Not about who he beat, but about him being Matteo Pelucchi and winning.

My liking to see him succeed is nothing to do with his specialism or style as a rider and everything to do with his story, quitting the sport to be with Marina, helping her recovery, updating fans and working with the charity etc.. He's a good guy beyond the sport above and beyond just "being a nice guy".

Fair enough. That's a good reason :)

It's frustrating I'd imagine for the DS because remember the Giro? The train worked amazingly very time, Max-Ferrari-Modolo worked great together and delivered him 2 stage wins. Maybe Ferrari isn't used to leading out Bonifazio, who isn't used to leading out anyone other than Cimolai, mainly because he is usually the main man anyway. Bonifazio will never win a sprint anyway here. As I said previously pn this forum, he isn't a pure sprinter. He is more suited to a hard stage which is long. He came 5th at MSR, which shows really strong stamina for a 21 year old. Italy should bring him to the Worlds, for experience more than anything else, but also because he is a fierce competitor after 250km. He is Italy's Freire, if you ask me.

I feel like you're giving him way too much credit. Put him in that 3 way sprint on the Champs from a couple years back and I bet he's way off the back. And what have we seen from him that suggests he'll better overall than those three? At this point, I haven't seen anything from him to suggest he'll be any better than the 8-10 other 2nd and 3rd tier Italian sprinters out there.
