It is interesting how Saxo has gone from signing new interesting talents, that they then can't keep, to signing riders that no one else wants.

I dont know about that. Riis has always been in love with older riders, but the quality of those riders has definately decreased.

Not Riis fault, if he had a money team like someone else, he wouldn`t be sitting around with 5 guys capable of doing anything...

Edit: Fotgot JJ Haedo XD

I know. Riis always seems to get the best out his material. We have to go years back to see the lack of overall quality like this though and that's is worrying. On the other hand... He has already won Tour De France 2012 and possibly Vuelta 2012 ;)

Oh my. Over-the-hill-domestique who was a disappointment the entire season. He was good back in 2006 when he helped Basso win the Giro but havent really been super since (iirc)

In some of the hilly stages in this years Giro, he was the only rider from Saxo Bank in the main peloton besides Contador. No Porte, no Navarro, no Hernandez.

Lets wait till the end of December before hiring the Bus for the parade, eh;)

Don't worry, usually when Ryo predicts your career will soon be over, that means you'll have a breakthrough season. Like Mollema, who would never be able to do a good GC in a grand tour because he had mono.

what? I never said anything about mollema not doing a good gc ever. you are full of **** as usual. I predicted gesink to never do well again in a gc and so far I;m right

I don't know how many wanted Nick Nuyens, and he responded Rih's faith by winning Dwars and the RVV.

Ratto most probably to Liquigas

would be a nice signing imo.

Italy full of talent.

I would say that Nuyens is a different caliber of rider to Roberts, Gustov, Cantwell etc.

agreed. he just under performed at rabo. Tho I disagree that he is one of the best in his field.

How many are better? Boonen, Canc, Gilbert, Leukemans, Chavanel, GVA maybe, some others I'm forgetting about. I'd say he actually is one of the best.

Depends how loosely you use the term best in his field. Which presumably is the northern classics? After winning RVV last year you would surely have to put him as a top 10 cobbled rider.

The cobbled classics field of strongmen is pretty small, you've named about all of them and you admit all these guys are stronger than Nuyens. So no, he's not one of the strongest cobbles riders. I'd say he's on par with guys like Langeveld.

You're a genius. Before or after he broke his leg?

I'd say Nick Nuyens is better than Langeveld, he already won it and got second once. It's not like it was a total epic surprise that came out of nowhere to see someone like Nuyens win. But Nuyens ain't a guy for Paris-Roubaix, so yeah.
