Missed out Flecha. Ballan looked very very strong at P-R this years as well

As a Norwegian I think Hushovd needs to be included as well, at least if you are talking P-R:p Pozzato might also still be able to get a podium finish if his new team gets an invite

Pozzato is one of the strongest men on the cobbles. In fact, I'd rate him third behind Boonen and Cancellara. He just needs to change his attitude, riding style and needs a bit of luck on his side(Boonen needs that too). He's very talented, but you don't see that on his palmares.

In 2009 he was one of the strongest together with Boonen in the Ronde van Vlaanderen and at Paris-Roubaix where he got second. He also won E3 Prijs Vlaanderen that year.

The cobbled classics field of strongmen is pretty small, you've named about all of them and you admit all these guys are stronger than Nuyens. So no, he's not one of the strongest cobbles riders. I'd say he's on par with guys like Langeveld.

You're a genius. Before or after he broke his leg?

before as you know and everyone else here. I also predicted before the tour gesink would crash and fail. let's just say other then evans I had a good tour

Better than Langeveld, Roelandts, EBH, Flecha imo.

I would say that he is a better Ronde rider than Flecha but apart from that they are pretty equal.

Agree with the rest though.

Flecha is miles ahead in terms of P-R, Nuyens isnt as far ahead in terms of RVV. Flecha is the more complete cobbles rider IMO, isnt a big difference though.

As you said though, agree with the rest

Yeah, top-5 is really a stretch if you got 6th at your second try (basically your first)

These "Look! I am not a chauvinist!" Dutchmen are really funny.

there's never been a tour or vuelta where gesink didn't crasha nd screw up his gc. even the tour he finished 6th he crashed and sucked hard the final pyrenee stage but was lucky the ploton quit pacing after 2nd climb when gesink was way down in the race. the point is gesink won't ever do a gt in which he won;t crash. nobody is deniening he's a great climber. this tour I also predicted gesink would crash and yep

Isn't that extreme??? He has many years of grand tour riding ahead of him and you're saying he'll crash in each and every one of them??

Whatever. 6th at 9'30" and almost getting beaten for 6th place by Hesjedal isn't that promising, IMO, with guys like Evans and Basso underperforming (for obvious reasons), Frank Schleck crashing out and Nibali not there.

I'm not even talking about the young soon to be GC guys Gesink will have to worry about. Competition is only getting fiercer.

Top 5 is a stretch in my opinion, I didn't say it was impossible. I just don't see it happening.

Hazuki is nothing but ridiculous predictions and postulates. Wish I could ignore him but it's hard not to get carried away by the stupidity.

I expect him to retire in a few years. have serious doubts how he will come back after his broken leg and at what level. the guy isn't exactly mentally strong

Yeah, there's always a few contenders crashing out or underperforming. Like Gesink himself was this year.

Gesink already did two Vueltas, too.
So? This was about the Tour.

Like who?

Fair enough. But it's based on dislike rather than reason, it seems.

Not such a wild prediction, he's done 5 GTs and had a bad crash in 4 of them ;)

why? because someone disagrees with you it is because he doesn;t like the rider? I don;t like gesink but I also think he's too one sided to ever be a podium candidate. while people as you thougth before this years tour he was a podium candidate. hilarious

and like who? there are many lined up. the colombians especially and even they crash less than gesink and are less one sided

We get it, you don't like Gesink and love Colombians. Isn't this the transfer thread tho? As far as I know Gesink is staying with Rabobank for the next years. If you want to talk about Gesink you can necro that Gesink is weak thread again.
