Sorry if it has been mentioned somewhere within this but what will Nicholas Roche be doing over the next couple of seasons?

Could he move to a bigger team as a support rider/part time leader, or will he remain as a sole leader at a lesser team?

Would he be a useful acqusition for Sky say?

Sky, nope, cant see why they would sign him. Nico has been the next big thing for about 5 years and is still showing no signs of actually being the next big thing. Doesnt help that hes on a team that seems to have more infighting than a disfunctional family.

27 now, should be in his prime, and still only has 3 victories to his name in very minor races (not including irish time trial championships)

Sky have more promising young riders (with better palmares), and more experienced domestiques.

its sad really, but he just hasnt lived up to expectation, but, with the Roche name, its likely that expectation has always been too high

It makes sense then that both Phil and Thor are going to Norway together for a crit race. They'll both be riding for BMC. Oh boy, that will be something.

don't know if this has been said but Gerry Ryan (GreenEdge) said on Australian radio that the content of the team for next year would include Australians, Kiwi's, a Canadian and some Dutch ..

So it looks like Gilbert, Hushovd and Van Garderen are all going to BMC. What about Rolland? I have seen his name linked to BMC a few times? Could they also snare him? Would be a great helper for Evans in the Mountains next year.

My guess for a Canadian would be that they're getting Michael Barry from Sky?

There was a rumour that Pieter Weening would go to Greenedge. And Langeveld too, but also Team Sky was interested.

Brajkovic is indeed no rider for a Grand Tour. He's better at stage races who're during one week, not three weeks. Will be hard for him to ride top-15, his best performance in a GT was actually two years a go in the Giro (18th).

This might have already been said, but is there a strong rumor that indicates whether GreenEdge is getting Goss or Haussler? I think Haussler can be really good when he's in shape (2009), but this year since he's coming off an injury is having trouble with long classics (milan-sanremo). Goss is more pure sprinter than Haussler but can ride hills too, and has been more successful this season. I hope they get both

I think most of us have been assuming since Greenedge was announced that Goss would be their first pick and that it would probably be a really good fit. He has lots of experience but is also still developing, he doesn't need a train or a lot of support, he's Australian, he has lots of UCI points, and he can get them invites and results regardless of what level of license they get.

I'm sure Haussler doesn't want to stay at Garmin but I don't know if he'd want to make another big risky leap like a new team. Hopefully he'll get some results in the later part of the season and have some options available. Did all the Cervelo guys just sign one-year deals with the Garmin takeover?

Goss needs to go to a team where he leads, and not ork for cav.
If that is greenedge so be it.

Yeah I definitely agree. It seemed wasteful watching him in Cav's leadout train. But if Cav leaves for Sky, then Goss gets the HTC leadout. Unless Cav takes Renshaw and Eisel with him..yes I know they have contracts through 2012, but Sky doesn't seem to care about those kinds of things.

I think it's just Haussler and Hushovd that'll be leaving. The other guys, since they're not very prolific winners, will stay. That's what I think.

Come August 1st, will teams announce all of the signings they've made so far? Or will they wait a while and let the riders announce?

As far as I can tell they are only allowed to negotiate with riders before august 1st but not sign anything so once august 1st comes around they would first need to sign all the papers before announcing anything so it might take a few days to get all the paper work done.

My goodness, last night I think this thread just did a recycle of every rumour since the thread start. Don't need to read the whole thread, just page 26. :D

Teams such as GreenEDGE etc who already have signings wont necessarily announce every signing on Aug 1. Whilst it may be the case for Gilbert, expect the signings to be announced 2-3 weeks later and incrementally.

Inferring on what people have said on twitter and some reactions, I wouldn't be surprised if ALL Aussies from Garmin are going over to GE. 4 minimum.

Hmm, it will be interesting to see what riders are going TOO Garmin next year. They are losing a lot of australians and probably also Hushovd and I guess chances are that Rasch might go with Hushovd since he has followed whereever Hushovd has gone. That leaves a lot of room on Garmin for new riders. Some will of course be filled by younger riders from the development team but they will probably try to get some new established riders as well.

I was just thinking the same thing!

At the moment it's looking like:

Hushovd -> BMC
Bobridge -> Green Edge
C. Meyer -> Green Edge
T. Meyer -> Green Edge
Lancaster -> Green Edge?
Haussler -> ?

Can't remember hearing too many names linked to a move to Garmin. I guess they will sign a few u23s and then look for experience with the other vacancies.

If HTC folds or merges with someone there might be some good riders in need of a new team. Didn't Vaughters mention that Pinotti is a rider he likes for example, though I might be confusing that with someone else. I guess Matt Brammeier could be a good fit as well for since they have Dan Martin on the team.

Don't forget Matt Wilson as well. Hasn't talked about retiring so another year or two should be on the cards.
