Another delusional german. Just like Tony Martin. They can't get over mountains so it's not going to happen.
Oh well... being ambitious is a good trait of a sportsman though.

Besides that it's far from certain that Skil-Shimano will ride the Tour de France.

It's all Ullrichs fault. He's formed a mold as a ITT specialist who climbed well and german riders have been trying to become Ullrich 2.0 ever since. Remember when Jens Voigt while at C.A. had the same dream of being a GC rider...

Pate has already ridden for Garmin and left last year

and Skil are a good team and will probably ride 2 GT next year I would guess plus all the big one day races

And which two GT's would that be? You think the French "super talents" Geniez and Bonnin will grant them a wild card for the tour? I don't see them getting into the giro.

I think they will ride the tour yes. ASO gave all french wildcards this year and have said not next year. Skil will be one imo and they will ride is spain again next year. Giro probably not

I like Skil as a team, but I think there'll be plenty of new competition from teams like GreenEdge, Geox and maybe even Team NetApp, who wants to expand.

But maybe the promise of Marcel Kittel showing up (if he continues his impressive sprinting progress) will be enough for ASO.

they could bring a respectable team to le tour.

THIS^^...Skil are developing a very respectable squad...even though I'm a little sad van Hummel is moving on.

Two riders who were underperforming for various reasons. Löfkvist got ill during hte Giro and had trouble sleeping. Losing 16 minutes on one stage doesn't exactly build confidence in Gretsch as a climber if that's the best example.
Look, I went looking for a result with a magnifying glass, and this is what I came up with

I'm not saying that it's a great result, I say it wasn't bad. Because it wasn't, and on a very hard stage too. But you're right, he lost 12 minutes on that stage to another possible white jersey contender, if that happens in the Tour he's toast.

The promise of Geniez, more like. It's all about the French.

It's way too early to tell. We have no idea yet which teams will be left out of the WT and chances are some well established teams will find themselves as Pro Continental. I think for example Euskaltel might be in danger since they really haven't performed as well as some other years and they only managed a WT spot with a whisker last year. Also if Stapleton decides to keep going with the scraps of the HTC team as a Pro Continental team then they would also be a strong contender and we still have all the other competition from this year.

I think we'll have a better view of things in october at the earliest.

You're right. It is too early. Other teams that might be in Jeopardy are Movistar (whose most leaders were struck by bad luck and signing Valverde won't get them any point), Ag2R and Vacansoleil based on this year's results so far but I guess the UCI assessment for the teams is based on the last 2 years, which is not the same. Quick Step saved themselves with the OP merger.

Safe to assume that Cav's signed with Sky then, I guess

I guess that's good news for Cavendish if he wants to keep working with Renshaw and Eisel. I can't help feeling that there will be some really great talent that will find themselves on a much lower level than they deserve.

I know its horrible that the team is folding but the silver lining is for greenedge here. It's much better for everyone folding now as opposed to later in the season when it would be much harder for everyone to find jobs. Goss, Roulston, Howard, Renshaw, Brammier will very much be on GE's radar. Also riders like Pinotti, Rabon, Sitsov (if he hasn't already signed for Sky) too.

Grabsh, Degenkolb, Eisel and Martin would get them going. Doubt it though. Will be interesting to see where Degenkolb ends up - looks like a real talent

Heres hoping the staff can all get new jobs too. Maybe Piper would be an asset for a sprint-train based GE team. No shortage of experience.

Not good for cycling, but it might be better for sprints!

Silver lining, you know.

It's good for cycling, they were only making it boring anyway. It's not like we lost Cav.
