I read the other day that BMC did express interest in signing Cav. Imagine that:

Cadel
Gilbert
Hushovd
Cav

At the TDF.

I read that and I think that where the quote - if they sign a sprinter I would ride the Giro came from Evans.

Ha ha imagine the ego and infighting.

It would be hilarious if Cav tried to make one or all of Cadel, Thor, and Phil all do lead out, and not all three telling him to 'get ****ed'.

And watch Phil hold his wheel in the sprints in a last minute attempt to steal the win. i would love to see Cav trying to pace the peloton and the foot of the Galibier.

What on earth are Sky waiting for now? First I thought they were waiting for ToB to announce Cav's signing, then I thought they were waiting until worlds...but apparently they just want to delay the announcement as long as possible

Lots of reports suggesting he hasn't signed yet. Something to do with image rights not being agreed upon yet.

Even if he has signed I still don't understand why people are in such a a rush for an announcement. If he just wants to finish his HTC career before announcing anything then good for him.

It appears Sky want to own him lock stock & barrel which he is resisting by wanting to stay with his existing sponers of which there are only two.

"His career will be handled by senior Wasserman figure Simon Bayliff, who also represents Wilshere and formerly worked with David Beckham.

Cavendish is the only cyclist on Wasserman’s books, but they see huge commercial potential for the Manxman. He has just two sponsorship deals, with Nike and Oakley, both of which are up for renewal in the next 12 months.

His stable of sponsors will grow as he becomes one of the faces of the London Olympics.

Such is Cavendish’s commercial potential that it is understood to be a key sticking point in negotiations with Team Sky, for whom he is expected to ride next year.

Sky want to benefit from Cavendish’s commercial appeal by retaining his image rights, a move that Team Cavendish are resisting.

They are also negotiating the clash between Nike and Adidas, who partner Team Sky and who prefer the riders to be affiliated to them."

Looks like Christian Meier will join close friend Svein Tuft at Greenedge.

In other news, Canadian Andrew Pinfold (UnitedHealthcare) will retire at the end of this season.

Welcome to the forum fanadian:)

That's good news about Tuft and Meier being reunited. Christian will earn lots of new Aussie fans because he's one of the most likable and dependable riders around.

Good luck to Andrew Pinfold.

While Christian Meier isn't really a top climber by any means it's positive to see them signing someone who doesn't fit the mold of sprinter/ITTer. Meier would certainly take a regular spot in the lumpier races they would race.

When is the date the final lines ups have to be with the UCI ?

20th October i believe. But that is just for a riders points to be used in the Pro tour calculations. Seeing as Sky (or Omega QS) do not really need his points to ensure their place in the world tour then pretty sure there is no deadline to sign him.

Lodewyck and Blythe are good signings for BMC. They are both young. Along with Phinney and GVA they are the young riders with Hincapie, Evans, Hushovd and Gilbert as classic leaders who shall teach them/ guide.

Henderson will be a good lead out man for Greipel along with Sieberg.

Anyone know much about Lodewyck? He was apart of a break in the last few laps of the worlds but I know little about him.

Murphy (BMC) signs two year del with Kenda 5 Hour Energy

He wasn't expected to go so I am surprised he is leaving. Had some decent results in some smaller Belgian races and stage of stage races. Not a bad prologue rider but is a better critierium rider. Probably struggled with being in the WT league.

and I see Paul Mach also signed with Kenda-5hr energy...he is an excellent rider from Bissell. A natural talent and always under the radar, so should be an interesting team next year.

5 riders are officially leaving BMC who are John Murphy, Karsten Kroon, Alexander Kristoff, Jeff Louder and Simon Zahner. Ballan is rumoured to be leaving. If Ballan stays and nobody else leaves, they will have 28 riders. If Ballan is the only person who leaves then they will have 27 rider squad.

seems like BMC are getting rid of some of their weaker riders except for those young riders barton/butler/beyer. I hope Ballan stays though.

I think he seems good enough. At least he gets out there. He does not also distinguish himself at GT's as he has no leader and at least 80 riders go up the road over the whole period. If you don't win you are not recognised that much.
