there's noting else to argue really. Other wise I would just be repeating what hrotha and hitch said. Take PR at face value if you wish it.

my latest comment was merely pointing out the obvious.

Your first point is baseless speculation. Saxo was on the way out and only stayed because of Contador - I don't see them giving Riis much more money regardless of what happens.

Quick Step got more money because they got that Czech guy on board. Now, of course Riis could do something like that too, but right now there's nothing to think that's what's going to happen.

EBH's story has been discussed here already. He ended up renewing with Sky, so I wouldn't rule out the possibility that it was just a tool to pressure Sky into giving him a better contract or better sporting opportunities. The only 100% confirmed fact remains that Saxo isn't signing anyone of note.

And the article is not significant because, as I said, it's just a standard PR non-response by Samu.

Actually he has 1 year left of his initial contract so he was never free to go anywhere anyway. If Riis wanted him then he would have had to buy him out.

Why have a thread called transfers and rumours if anything out of a cyclist's mouth is worthless PR rubbish?

I can easily imagine these 2 riding together.

I guess when Thor said he wanted to ride in the same team as his friend Gilbert it was also worthless PR rubbish

that wasn't the point.

If Euskaltel quits next year Samuel Sanchez will go to the same team as Contador. So if it's still Saxo, Riis has another good climber.

makes it sound like it is certain.
Hrotha and co. merely pointed out that there are flaws in your theory.

such as the funds etc.
It is a possibility sure, but likewise it is possible it wont happen. With the current funds situation who could really be confident with riis signing samu. No doubt he will receive some great offers. I guess giving up aspirations and a better contract is peanuts when faced with the prospect of riding for contador.

I don't think Contador will still ride for Riis after 2012 and if he does then Riis will have brought in a second sponsor. Unless Contador is a total idiot, he wouldn't stay with a team that has budget problems unless he's forced to because of a contract.

I don't really think it will hurt Samu's chances of riding for Contador. I'm not expecting him to drag Contador up the mountains à la Roberto Heras. I'm more expecting something like the Schleck bros only with a different racing mentality.

And how does it sound certain in the sentence you quoted? It has 2 "ifs" in it.

Don't worry about that, it's impossible that the top contender of the spceial event of cycling, Tdf, hasn't got big sponsors for the team he ride. With Contador cleared (90% of chance for me) Riis is gonna have some big sponsor to choose for 2013.

Yep... successful cycling teams have nothing but offers from sponsors at the moment..

Oh, wait..?

I think he will stay with Riis unless Riis can't find a sponsor at all, or can't afford to renew his contract.

BTW what is Valverde's situation like? Has he signed for Movistar? I think he will be pretty good in the early part of the season as usual.

What?

Contador would have signed for Movistar last year if they didn't announce their sponsor so late...

bs. movistar never had the money for him. also contador wanted to go to riis.

I guess Samu is wrong as well when he says he wants to ride in the same team as Contador.

Thank god he has you guys to tell him that!

Some of you guys really do think too highly of your own opinion.

more or less,i've heard he was serious with his training so he might come back like rebellin did.hopefully he can be a contender for keeping phil's wheel on those vicious attacks.

I would like to see him be able to compete with phil. I actually kind of like Valverde. He races in every race he goes to. DOesnt always win like phil and contador, but does well. And also can sprint really well which is always exciting. He can compete on all terrain!
