biciclismo said on facebook that he has signed a 3 year deal.

who in their right mind gives a 33 year old a big 3 year deal contract? because with the season he had his contract will probably be around nibali's level (pure speculation)

BMC only has 22 riders? They've showed they've got the money, and they still need a Giro/Vuelta captain. That is if Purito changed his mind about the Tour of course.

According to @inrng on Twitter BMC has 26 riders.

How much would they have to pay him for that? Not likely he'll change his mind as that's the sole reason he's changing teams...

Purito to Lampre would be a good fit IMHO.

Climbing domestiques, current riders have limited ambitions at the Tour, and the new sponsor Merida could no doubt find a few million to get the no. 1 rider on their bikes.

Not good for Cunego's Ardennes season though.

cunego hasn't had a good ardennes week in 5 years tho. . .

he wanted to ride the tour tho and if purito were to go to lampre he would have to do it as a dom most likely.

also lampre with an spanish leader just feels wrong on so many levels . . .

Don't see lampre happening, where would they get that money?

BMC is likely, but how will they fit purito and evans in the tour?

And what about vangarderen?

Someone giro then.

And what about Gilbert and purito? How will you combine that? I don't see them riding for each other, no way gilbert will ever do that. And purito also not, he most likely still regrets it that he did it for piti.

I don't see that BMC works for the reasons you mentioned: thay're probably the only team that already has better options for the Ardennes and the Tour.

Why would it be so wrong that Lampre have a Spanish leader? As I suggested, the new sponsor Merida is a BIG company and could quite possibly find that sort of money for the most prolific rider in cycling.

I can follow your idea about Lampre.
Besides Lampre could be in trouble WT points wise in 2014 unless the current crop of riders starts to perform again. J-Rod would effectively eliminate that problem with his points from 2012 alone.

it just feels wrong because lampre always had italian leaders, no particular logical reason just that feeling.

also merida do have the money but lampre is still the main sponsor and is an italian sponsor.

OK I take your points. Look at Euskaltel this year though. And bike sponsors have been known to buy out contracts/pay wages. These days they must account for large proportion of the $$$ in the pro sport: 'Rabo', 'Liquigas', BMC, Specialized...

You should not forget about Raimondas Rumsas :)

Who would he be domestique too? Scarponi? Cunego?

I doubt if BMC will be interested. They are developing TJVG and also have Evans who has as much chance of winning as Rodriguez does if he can find some form. When Evans retires BMC will probably pick up another younger GC rider to complement TJVG not someone of Rodriguez's age.

I would say wrong Duggan, but the other one would be a completely pointless signing too.

Blasphemy. We wouldn't have had this:
