According to the UCI Europe Tour rankings there are three Conti riders in the top four overall, and two more in the top 15. Not to put too fine a point on it, this means that they are all pretty damn good.

These are:

Mario Kump (Leader of the UCI Europe Tour).
Jonathan Tiernan-Locke (3rd)
Gediminas Bagdonas (4th)
Reinardt Janse van Rensburg (12th)
Bob Jungels (15th)

I've heard a bit of JTL and Jungels speculation, and raise Bagdonas' future with boring regularity myself, but I don't think I've heard anything about Kump's future and I hadn't even heard of van Rensburg. Has anything been settled with any of these dudes? Where are they off to?

It also means that the Pro Conti level is weaker than in previous years. Teams like Vacansoleil, Cervelo TT and BMC that often performed at a higher level than other pro conti teams are gone or moved up now and at the same time a lot of other teams have been stripped of their top riders since teams are hunting for points. This means that there are less really good riders in the pro conti teams which opens the door for good conti riders to compete.

I've just started a thread about that very subject (the sudden equality between the top Conti teams and the ProConti teams), so if it's Ok with you, I'm going to copy your reply there as it is a useful explanation.

Heard Janse van Rensburg might be going to Rabobank but I don't know whether there's any truth in it.

The DS for Rabo Conti approached him after some race he won. That's where that rumour comes from.

I don't think that's what they approached him for. It's the same way Michael Matthews was contracted, the Rabo Conti DSes spotted him in their races. Reportedly they also hinted Breukink et al. about JTL last year, without reply.

JTL would have been a welcome addition, half their team is deadwood. But we all know Breukink is an awful manager.

Yeah, that's what you say now. Sky didn't even sign him.

Nobody expected what he did this year. Before that he won the KOM jersey in the Tour of Britain, whoopteedoo.

It's not a matter of what I say, it's a matter of what the guy from Rabo conti team says. He clearly shows to have good knowledge about the potential of cyclists. Breukink, on the other hand, has never achieved anything but being the most annoying commentator in Dutch history after his cycling career.
