Meh at least he still has that mailman job he can fall back on.

I still don't understand why Lotto-Belisol isn't signing him, all the more a while ago De Gendt said he would be willing to work for others as well so no problem with VDB...

from what i heard, the belgian postal service doesnt want him back. apparently one day he delivers all the mail quicker than any other mailman and the next he doesnt deliver any mail at all.

Team Gadret remains the greatest and at this point longest sustained cycling news forum in-joke. It will be a sad day for us all when John finally retires.

(It remains a pity that The Great Bauke Mollema did actually develop into a very good rider)

When did that joke start?

Wasn't it the 2010 Tour, when he refused to give Roche his wheel despite being lower on GC?
I think it was when he was always left alone in the Giro. Maybe I'm wrong though.

All of which is why it seems odd that Movistar have signed him. Can't wait to see what happens next time Valverde is caught out with puncture/winds/natural break/rain jacket/etc and the whole team is ordered back to work for him. Will Team Gadret's radio suddenly and mysteriously stop working? :D

it also happened in Pais Vasco this year where Peraud had a mechanical on the penultimate stage (being 7th in GC, 26 seconds behind, with the timetrial still to come) when Gadret "did not hear him shouting" and finished 6th himself - Peraud finished 3 minutes down and was so ****ed that he did not want to start anymore the other day :p

One more year to prove me wrong. Otherwise replacing him and Sutton with one decent sprinter would be nice! Are any of the under 23 GB lot showing enough promise in the sprints?

Sutton is a rider who has been screwed over by Sky, that is all to be said.

Maybe so, Sky are really bad at getting sprinters/puncheurs to perform. It may also happen to the replacement (if it they ever do it) but still the lack of results for Sutton and Swift suggest a new sprinter is needed. Sutton may then start performing if he moves teams.

Greenedge seems to be a professional and relaxed environment to develop. If I had the talent I wouldn't mind to ride there.

What's the rule on how many Neo-Pros a team can have, is there a minimum and maximum?

Damien Howson has been signed by GreenEdge, he was a team trainee this season, but I'm assuming he's signed as neo-pro for the next two seasons. I see the Yates twins signing as a positive step. Two good young riders who can climb some. GE needs to boosts it's climbing stocks, especially if the team wants to develop or sign a GT contender in the future.

Other top young Aussies sign for other World Tour teams as neo-pros and trainees, Rohan Dennis and Glen O'Shea at Garmin Sharp come to mind. As much as we'd like it, GreenEdge doesn't have a mortgage on top young Australian talent. So there's nothing to stop GreenEdge going out and signing young foreign talent.

I don't believe Caleb Ewan is thinking of turning pro for next season, so it's not like the Yates twins are taking spots from top young Aussie prospects.

Sky picked up three (Edmonson, Dombrowski, Boswell) last year.

A team can have as many neo-pros as they wish.

Only the first two count above the usual 28 person team maximum.
