I prefer the best dutch cyclists in a dutch team. it s better that way. For me teams like Astana are a bit fake because there s no real public interest behind teams like that and katusha. I mean when those gov pull the plug then the chances for survival for those teams are really small.

What we need are sponsors like liberty seguros. Big companies who see cycling as an optimal advt vehicel much more then a toy for the leaders of a semi totalitarian regime. The doping cases have scared a lot of big sponsors.
I remember when I was a teenager there where like 14 italian pro teams.

The FICP ranking was also a lot better then the world tour. Cycling doesnt need a closed system. the local teams should be able to ride the local races.
Teams like aqua sapone diseappeared because they could no longer ride the Giro. Those days it was possible for a small team to have a breaktrough year and go on to ride the tour. The german media has also done a lot of damage to cycling. With the same fierceness they crowned JULlrich as the cycling god they boycot cycling now. I mean there s als lot of doping in Biathlon
etc Just hypocrisy....
The positive now is that you got bigger riders in the giro. But I think there has to be a healthy mix.

Is the boogerd , breukink etc team coming or do they lack sponsors?

what kind of bs is that? and when popular temas get the plug pulled away like vacansoleil, euskaltekl etc they survive?

I reckon Nicki Sørensen will retire as well. Roche has been rumoured to leave the team. I could imagine Kump and Pires being history too. And maybe they could relaese CAS of his contract. He has been a bit frustrated on the team, hasnt performed and Holm has said he would like him to join OPQS

He is on his way to become the best cobble rider in the peloton. He was equally strong to Cancellara this year and stronger than anyone else. And he is the youngest rider among the best cobble specialists, so it's fair to assume he should be the best in 2-3 years unless something bad (injury, ilness or so) happens to him soon.

He's one of the three best cobbles riders in the world right now. It depends on your definition of a star, I guess, which to you doesn't apply to any rider on that team

Dumoulin doesn't hate Rabo, he even rode for them... Poels is a different story.

After the Euskaltel continuation/takeover fiasco, will riders be willing to wait and see what will or won't happen in October, or will anyone who can secure his future in August do so?

Perhaps that is why they emphasise modest ambitions (= pro conti status?) for the first year.

lol. boonen alreayd was a world champion at age 24. vanmarcke is 26 and despite hsi incredible talent is lucky to ever win any monument consideirng he's an absolute non-winner
