Porte has just confirmed that he is leaving Sky at the end of the year on the TV

*** it! I was expecting this from the moment that all the Kwiatkovski soap started.Sky doing the same mistake as with Rogers :( Anyway seems he'll end up at BMC which i think is a good choice.

Bjarne, when asked today if Contador and Sagan have a "Riis clause" in their contracts, said "no comment" with a smile
Maybe the rumours about Segafredo sponsoring his new team are true
Wow! People forget just how much respect Riis gets from his riders. Would be cool if its true.

Well with Porte confirming he is leaving that opens the door for a deal with Landa. He'd have a good team around him and guaranteed Giro/Vuelta leadership.

How do you think Landa will do at Sky?

A guaranteed slot as the no 2 leader on the Sky team seems a bit previous for a rider who has performed at a very high level in precisely one race. Thomas De Gendt also has a Giro third to his name.

A big contract, sure, he's young. The opportunity to lead in so far as he shows he has the goods, sure. A guaranteed slot ahead of half the fringe GC men in the peloton (ie much of the rest of Sky's squad)? Surely he'd have to show that his big three weeks out of nowhere marks him out as the new Froome rather than a flash in the pan by showing that sort of level again. As it happens, I think he will show that it wasn't a fluke, but I wouldn't guarantee him leadership based on that hunch.

G.,Sergio Henao,Poels and Kennaugh(if he stays) won't buy this.Landa needs to prove himself at Sky before getting the full support.

What if Landa goes to the Vuelta and podiums again? That will surely prove he is ready for it. ( I presume he is riding the Vuelta).

Of course he must prove it and Sky have plenty of good riders who wish to step up however I don't believe they have riders capable of challenging for GT wins. Top 10's yes but that's different.

That's very good- they need a sprinter who can get some wins to keep up morale. Now all that needs to occur in regards to the NRS is for Pat Bevin to get a WT contract too.

it's absolutely not sure landa is even leaving astana. I very mucht doubt he will. riders rarely leave astana, especially (potential) leaders

Just read that Poels would like Giro leadership next year. He already talked about it with the team and he thinks the team has similar plans. That doesn't really add up with Landa signing for Sky, although Poels hasn't proven anything as a leader so far.

And obviously Landa wants to leave Astana more than aything.

Yep. Not signing a decent sprinter of the non-expensive, non-star, variety was one of their stranger decisions. Their season would look a whole lot better if they had say three or four extra wins thus far of the sort such a rider would provide.

If anywhere Poels should get leadership at the Vuelta from my pov.

Hopefully it doesn't mean Landa will become Sky's Heras.

If he is leaving = No Vuelta
if he is staying = Maybe Vuelta

With an occasional exception, it is a common practice that those riders leaving the team wont get to ride after the TdF is over ...

Landa is 25. He needs to realise that if he leaves and goes to a team like Sky he is unlikely to get a crack as a GT leader in his first season, but when he does (1 or 2 seasons down the line) he can be assured of a very good support cast. It's up to him, but he's 25 and it seems a very sensible option.

for me landa should go for tinkoff or katusha, both needs a GC contender for 2017. landa could learn with contador how to win a gt. majka could go for le tour and landa could for giro/vuelta

He has several options, Astana ain't one of them to be honest.

If he has enough confidence in himself to be able to get Giro and / or Vuelta leadership at Sky he should sign for a big paycheck.

Tinkoff would be another option. If Sagan leaves there's space in salaris and as Contador is likely to target one last Tour in 2016 the door is wide open for Giro + Tour leadership.

Lampre has had a little renessaince this season and they may be looking for a Giro leader and give him decent support with their climbing talents. That said, Lampre ain't gonna give anyone a competitive paycheck to Sky / Tinkoff, unless Merida takes over as the main-sponsor in 2016. So they'll probably try to sign someone like Kruijswijk, Hirt, etc.

Movistar has Quintana and Valverde around, like Astana has Aru and Nibali. Why should he do a transfer if he stays the teams number 3 in 2016 as long as he can be at least number 2 elsewhere. He still could lead them at the Giro and be co-captain at the Vuelta though.

If he leaves,I wouldn't be suprised if he rides the Vuelta for his new team already. There's an easy deal to be made where nearly everyone takes profit, except Aru.

Good news. I was thinking who of the PCT riders could join Cannondale for 2016 and Wippert was one of my bets. He will probably be the best sprinter in their team unless they hire someone else. Not sure how much support and how good calendar will he get if the team's main focus remains hills and mountains. Maybe better than he would get this year if Martin or Hesjedal leave for next year.

Acoording to L'equipe Landa has a verbal agreement with Sky. Maybe he will say more about his future tomorrow when he is invited by Teledeporte.

Ballan will be on the market in August to all non-MPCC teams. A Rebellin-like comeback?

Landa should call Riis and ask him about Segafredo before he signs for Sky!

Where does this Segafredo rumour stem from?
