Very surprised by this from Sky.

But how many people have decided to leave Sky?

That is absolutely crazy, so sky offered less money but I wonder if the rumours about the other trio are true if that swayed the balance in sky's favour.

What rumour ?

Intxausti and the Izagirre brothers also moving to Sky.

Oh ok, missed that lol

how is SKY going to accomodate Landa,Konig,Thomas,Froome ? they all have GT ambitions (or at least should have),i heard today Kwiatkowski wants to be a GT rider too and SKY is probably one of the teams that can afford him

They will do like Radioshack back in the day when they started the Tour with 4 leaders. :p On a more serious note, I think Konig shouldn't be the leader of any GT SKY team. I know his GT results are pretty impressive so far but SKY should ride every GT to win it. I just don't see how Konig can challenge for the win in any GT in the near future. You have Froome obviously for the Tour, maybe Landa and Thomas co-leaders for the Giro and then in the Vuelta it depends, maybe Froome with Landa having free role.

Konig deserves a crack, he hasn't gone into a GT yet with the sole aim of winning even this years Giro he was there to support Porte, he's a better GC option than Landa

I see Jonathan Vaughters said today that Sky's budget is 40m euros a year. Crazy money

I think it's more, that number should be in pounds too.

I imagine only Tinkoff would have a budget in that ball park, and that is mostly because of the money they pay Sagan and Contador. And considering they're the biggest names in the sport it makes sense

As I wrote days ago, I have a feeling that the Henaos are on their way out. First it was Sergio's exclusion of the Tour, after all the reconnaisance he did with Froome and after saying many times that he was looking forward to help Chris to win the yellow jersey (and his level at Suisse wasn't that bad).

I'm looking forward to see Sky racing teams for San Sebastian, Poland and the Vuelta. I was expecting to see Sergio in their line-up of San Sebastian as preparation for the Vuelta, but only his cousin is there. Maybe Poland for him? He should be very fresh to the spanish GT and one of the top guns with less racing in his legs.

Well unfortunately for Sergio he went into California as a, if not the, favourite, and into Suisse as co-leader with Thomas. In both cases I didn't see anything that would make one think he was at a good enough level for the Tour. In California queen stage he didn't make up the ten seconds he needed to gain on the 22 year old untested Alaphilippe but lost 23, and finished with the same time as Boswell. In Suisse queen stage he finished 90 seconds down on Pinot and 55 down on a recovering Pozzovivo.

He wasn't co-leader in Suisse, everybody expected to be but he was just working for G. there.I think he was decent enough for Le Tour but Sky preferred Konig over him.Like in Giro were they picked Eisel over Lopez, strange choices at least for me.

Yeah, I meant he went into it to lead but wasn't at the right level so had to domestique for Thomas.

Attempt No2:

In: Peters, Moscon, Geoghegan Hart, Kwiatkowski, Landa, Intxausti, Golas

Out: Wiggins, Pate, Zandio, Earle, Sutton, Boswell, Eisel

He looked rather decent this year,i think he'll stay. One of Seb.Henao,Viviani or Nieve might leave instead.

I would say Sergio Henao instead of Seb, as he's in a similar boat to where Uran was thinking he's a better GC rider than he actually is. Whereas Seb is still young and can grow, Nieve & Viviani were good at the Giro and Boswell has looked good this year
I don't think Sergio is in the same boat Uran was, because Uran had showed some real talent in the GT's, while Sergio hasn't really shown that much, only one top 10 in his first Giro (9th). He hasn't really done anything in the high mountains elsewhere. He did do two more top 20s in the Vuelta and Giro, but that hardly means he should lead a GT, even though he was supporting a leader (he was too in his first Giro). Anyway, I'd keep both, and as the Spanish speaking delegation is set to grow, if we are to believe the rumours, they might feel at home more too.

Eisel was a personal request from Richie. Lopez was apparently chosen as a volunteer to not go. :)

Last year the team spend 14M € on rider wages. (http://jyllands-posten.dk/sport/cykling/ECE7849532/Tinkoff-Saxos-l%C3%B8nudgift-runder-100-mio.-kr./)

According to Inrng (http://inrng.com/2015/07/team-sky-budget-finances/) Sky spend 23M € on rider wages last year.

I actually think a few riders will leave SKY because lack of opportunities especially the opportunity to ride the Tour. Landa will I am sure have agreement to lead at the Giro and hence the departure of Porte who didn't I believe want to leave but was not guaranteed leadership n a GT at SKY

Also Froome will lead at the Vuelta and maybe for a few years while in his pomp,

Cannot see how Kwaitkowski will get to lead a GT at SKY ..He is not a top climber over 3 weeks . I imagine Thomas is only just beginning to develop ambitions for GTs as he seems surprised by his positioning on this Tour but given how the British media keep going on about Thomas having a chance to ride for GC must mean he will looking for a chance.

Maybe with all these riders it might be a case of too many chiefs and not enough indians

Also Konig is very ambitious but I can't see him given a lead as he is not at the same level as Froome,Landa, Thomas & Henao for my book. He did well in GTs as a wheel follower but his climbing is not GT winning. Even in this Tour he has been only occasionally in support but has been more conspicuous by his absence given that he was rested in the first week for the climbs

How long is König still under contract? A team like BMC could use him better, as a leader for the Vuelta for instance.

If BMC truly has the biggest budget then their actions on the transfer market are quite bad. They never seem to buy good young GT talent (except for Tejay).

Konig Poels and Roche have a contract for 2015-2016

But BMC already has Porte and TJVG!

A bit more consistent riders would be nice. Wouldn't surprise me if Caruso gets their best result next year.

Samuel Sanchez signed an extension with BMC.

I think Sammy is good for BMC - they need his experience to help the younger riders. He is in the twilight of his career now and seems happy where he is.

Maybe in a GT, but Porte should win at least one stage race during the year, which is arguably better than 6-10 in a GT.
