JR Bernaudeau is applying for a WT licence. He's got four sponsors potentially interested (2 French, 1 British, 1 other), although no sure backing yet.

Coquard has turned down ag2r for now and all the main riders are waiting until the 15th to make a call. Another rider is in contact with Bernaudeau apparently and would make a significant impact if a sponsor is found.

Prudential? Virgin? Aberdeen Asset Management? Would a British sponsor insist on being a UK registered team?

No idea for now. Still very early days, and no guarantees he'll find anyone. Would be interesting to see what happens though if he does end up with a British sponsor.

I imagine the UK will have two world tour teams and they might make a raid on Team Wiggins.

Clear out the deadwood from Europcar, sign Cummings, Doull (who actually had an offer from Europcar for this season), Thwaites and McLay, and you've got enough of a British base to make it not a total mismatch. Alternatively, of course, they could sign the Cavendish sprint train. Very interesting prospect either way.

I'm guessing the former is more likely with maybe Hart as well if sky don't offer him a deal.

Or they won't have a British sponsor, only a quarter of the mentioned potential sponsors is British. French based still most likely I'd say.

I have a feeling that OGE's marquee signing is a Basque rider. They will probably announce Txurruka at the same time. So Nieve could be a possibility.

Doubt Trofimov will go to Saxo. Katusha will want to have a Russian GT contender. He's not there yet but he has improved and Rodriguez probably has only 1 good year left.

Then again maybe Oleg wants a Russian to lead a GT.

Zakarin.

Oops, forgot about him
Still it wouldn't hurt to have both Zakarin and Trofimov

There have been one or two British-registered teams without a British sponsor. Barloworld and wasn't a former incarnation of Southeast Pro Cycling also registed in Britain?
CSF, Tenax, LPR, Flaminia were all registered at (Northern) Ireland at some point if I remember correctly. Not sure about Flaminia though.

Aberdeen are funding NFTO for a possible move to Pro-conti level so thats gone. Enterprise Rent a Car as the british sponsor?

OGE's Marquee signing must be Juul-Jensen. They just confirmed he has signed. But then it was rumoured he would sign with them, so maybe not Marquee.
Hmm, a little bit odd to me, don't they have plenty of riders with his qualities already?

Jensen will fit two main roles - One is helping GC riders as well as having the ability to win a stage at a GT. Will also help with the classics roster - Gotta remember that Gerrans and Albasine are ageing, though Matthews can only get better and Keukeliere is decent on cobbles.

Yeah I can't see someone with one pro win ever in four seasons being described as a "marquee" signing. I wonder if it's Nieve.

Scratching my head to think of a marquee signing. I always think of 15 to 20 riders fitting that category. it's got me stumped.

Not to drag the clinic here, but:

"Vaughters launched a developmental cycling squad dedicated to ethical competition. That team has since evolved into Cannondale-Garmin. Early on, the team implemented a stringent doping policy that remains today. If a rider is caught doping, the whole team will be fired."

After today's news, that's a lot of riders on the market if Vaughters keeps his word.

I'm sure he's convened a crisis committee to work out a snarky twitter reply to this situation #leadership

Nothing on their website, only stories from news sites online, so maybe it's not been announced yet.

Maybe it was a typo and they meant Alejandro Marque...

Which would be a weird signing still, of course.

Is Josh Edmondson going to come back to the top tier of the sport next season? I know he had his issues at Sky, but he seemed to be a pretty promising rider.

So both One Pro and NFTO are trying to move into the second division? It seems unlikely that there's room for both to succeed.

Von Hoff would probably lead NFTO/Aberdeen Asset and they can build a train from that along with grabbing a couple of attacking climbers and some lower tier classics guys. OPC would probably look to grab a sprinter and some guys to ride in breaks. They should be able to grab some invites to the classics and maybe score some week long stage races.

A lot of nobodies in both teams. Merging would still leave plenty of room for new riders. But then again they probably shouldn't since British teams always seem to be on the brink of collapse or else being merged into other teams and losing their identity - eg Bora-Argon's only legacy of having been merged with Endura two years ago is having the same number of British riders as Cult Energy, MTN or BSE - one.

Adam Blythe might join Tinkoff, good support for Sagan.

Curious after a fairly anonymous season. Led out Ewan at Korea, but in the classics the only one-day classic he finished was P-R with 85th place.
