Flens ain't been going to ride on if my memory is correct. He's fixed to retire I believe.

Poor Sella may should do the same. He's done. Same for Szmyd. Schumacher ain't been signed for two years by CCC? He had a horrible season. Hard to find a new team.

Ain't nobody wants to sign Anton? Might should get a contract from an Italian pro conti team like Southeast from my pov.
Euskadi BC-Murias Taldea have offered him a contract, he's holding out in the hope a bigger team might be interested. If they aren't, he'll probably have to take on Murias' offer or retire.

Such a pity, but he really didn't have the head for the top, I'm afraid, and he's too flaky and easily injured to become a silent Zubeldia type.

Team Wiggins sign Michael O'Loughlin, an Irish 18 year old. O'Loughlin is this year's designated "highly rated Irish child", Ireland being a country that's only big enough to have one per year.

(This makes it even more of a mystery where An Post are going to find five more Irish riders to make up the six they say will be riding for them).

In retrospect, getting taken out of the Vuelta while in the red jersey by a bit of wood on the road was the turning point of his career.

Idunno, inconsistent though he was in that race, he still won on Monte Zoncolan in the 2011 Giro. I think he never really fully recovered from that 2010 crash, but coming into the 2011 Vuelta as arguably the #1 favourite and wilting in the heat on a climb where 40 riders made it on the same time and even Michele "I melt above 20ºC" Scarponi didn't lose any time I think really was a hammer blow, followed a day later by being dragged across the line by Txurruka a minute back on the same climb he'd taken the lead on the previous year.

Fedaia killed him in 2011. Never was the same. What a shitty climb. ;)

It would of played a part but I lean more to the thinking that he just wasn't a true GT contender, when he was good he was a very good climber but when he was bad he'd fall to pieces. I think he was more a 1 week rider and stage hunter/KOM rider for GT's who lost to much of his career trying to be that GT contender.

Can anyone elaborate on the "Team Gadret" thing? Haven't been around here that long.

It started when he refused to give his then team leader Nico Roche a wheel in the Tour. And then gained more traction when one one of the 2011 Giro mountain stages both he and his teammate, Dupont, attacked the leaders group. Instead of working together, Gadret rode 20 metres ahead of Dupont for km after km. And then there was a later incident when he "failed to see" his team leader Peraud on the side of the road waving at him for a wheel and just kept going.

At the time it seemed like he just wouldn't help anyone for any reason. At the end of his career, he doesn't seem to have caused any problems as a domestique at Movistar, rather disappointingly. His entertainingly selfish behaviour, combined with the fact that he looks like he'd steal your hubcaps if your left your car unattended, made him a cult hero here.

The sport would be more fun if more domestiques randomly went rogue for no obvious reason.

Both solid signings, Kerrison is only 21 and done well in our NRS and won stages in some Asian races. Dyball is a nice little climber who was the first non Irainian home (and we all know about the Irainians) on the Mt Fuji stage of the Tour of Japan this year.
