The deal seems fishy, going from a team (Strongman) to another team (Lizarte), only to go back to your original team after a few months (Strongman, again), like a loan deal in football, isn't something you see on the daily. I'd say there is another deal in place with Movistar, and they want him to ride a few races in Europe first.
Not unusual in smaller scenes or women's cycling when people will ride as guests for another team that isn't doing a race. Rujano tends to be a mercenary for hire when the Vuelta a Colombia rolls around. It may be part of the deal that simply Lizarte want him, but one condition he insisted on getting to do a particular race; it doesn't suit Lizarte to up sticks and go out there to race it, so they agree terms with the team they're essentially buying the rider from because they'd rather loan him out to somebody they're on good terms with. I don't see anything fishy about it at all tbh.

I think it's true, Dan Lloyd and GCN are tweeting about it, and so far nothing says it isn't. Surprising, though.

it's clearly a joke.

though i wouldn't mind it cause it would mean that RCS needs a new guy to do post stage interviews. Hopefully one that speaks Italian this time

That was an april fools. They did an joke announcement video, with him in a DiDa kit, and a few hours later, they released a video about RVV with him in GCN kit. Hindcapie posted on twitter that he saw them filiming it this morning

Of course that was a joke! Best part; Dimension Data was in on it and posted the announcement on their FB page.

Trek said "Door closed for Nibali"

They made an offer, he refused (presumably because of that Bahrain team). Now it's too late and they are looking somewhere else.

Probably they'll announce a contract with Nibs in the next few days :D

Ngl, I wasn't 100% sure. Yes, it was ridiculous that a 35 yo who quit 3 years earlier who doesn't have a great palmares (sorry!) would rejoin the peloton, especially on april fools day itself, but then Dimension Data being in on it with all the posts on twitter gave me a 10% doubt. I was really hoping it was true though :D

I wish Nibali and his entourage would sign for Trek because teams without a big leader or some other big purpose annoy me. Trek look particularly ripe for a new direction: they have 7 riders older than Cancellara, and only two Americans despite apparently being an American team. The other team that annoys me is IAM; they're just not WT level.

Dont worry, Sagan is already on his way to Trek.

I was thinking the same. There are not many leaders on the market for next year and I think that Trek (the bike company) wants a star to replace Cancellara-Armstrong line in order to have a rider which sells good

The fact that Dimension Data was in on the joke as well just made me admire how well thought out it was.

They annoy you? Wow I can't believe they didn't consider you before deciding against Nibali
Trek might have an American licence but not an American team as the main purpose of the team is to sell bikes, the company has stated this so having riders from many different countries makes sense, they have a couple of good young riders on the way up and I'm certain they will be looking for a name to replace Cancellara so I'm guessing Sagan would be a priority.
Also on IAM, they do pretty well actually and doubt they have a massive budget so kudos to them

Why would do want a triathlon team?

Yes, they're fine as a pinch-hitting little team... which is pretty much what a pro-conti team is supposed to be; Drapac have as many wins and I'd bet they're on the same money or less.

But IAM aren't a ProConti team, they're a WorldTour team. If they were still ProConti it'd probably suit them better as they could have more impact at the races they did, but they wouldn't be guaranteed all of the invites they may need to keep the project going at the right level. At times last year, though, they were emblematic of one of the things that's wrong with modern cycling, such as the placement riding in the Tour de France and helping kill interesting and threatening breakaways in case Mathias Fränk's tenuous grasp on the lower edges of the top 10 came under pressure. I literally can't remember a thing they did in the race other than that. Fränk is a good rider, and obviously the Tour GC is important for sponsors, but it's worrying to see that a completely anonymous 8th place now trumps a stage win (and I had to look up that 8th place as I hadn't a clue where he'd finished up).

I know, I'm saying they don't have a WT-level roster and are no different from about ten pro conti teams, so it's hard to understand why they are WT, from a sporting perspective at least.

UCI begged them to be WT in 2015. Because otherwise the new system wouldn't work (or something like that). All I know is that they were the only ones willing to do it when they were looking to make a team WT. And they got the guarantee that they wouldn't go back to PCT after 2015. Also it helped they were swiss. Also the UCI loves swiss franks.
