They can't pay him.

I've heard they got a budget increase last year which they didn't spend, and they could afford him now.

They got a small budget increase when Soudal took over from Belisol but they still can't pay someone like Vanmarcke after giving a lot of that extra budget to contract extensions for Greipel, Wellens, Benoot, ... I think some people underestimate Seps salary wishes.

I hope I'm wrong but they can't even give Henderson a new contract now cause they gave Wellens & Benoot a raise.

Is any team willing to take a bet on Guillaume Van Keirsbulck? I imagine he's pretty cheap right now after the two complete **** seasons he's had.

Is this line from Benson's latest transfer article just badly-worded or have I missed out on something with Phinney?

Taylor Phinney – despite mid-season rumours – will ride on in 2017 but it is expected that he will not make a decision on his future until after the Olympic Games, where he is targeting the time trial.

Makes it seems like he could retire and I never saw or heard anything about that..

Yes that's how I read it.

Richard Moore just tweeted "*rumour alert* Phinney to Cannondale"

Apart from Drapac, I wonder whether Slipstream Sports has secured a new big sponsorship deal? Quite a few good signings by them lately!

They should have saved some money when Talansky went from his "just won Dauphine" contract to his new "uh oh, need to get my act together again" contract.

What big contract signings have they made this transfer period outside of the possible Vanmarcke signing? Everyone else they have signed wouldn't be on big $$$

Purito, Hesjedal, Cancellara, Schleck, Tjallingi, Popovich and many names "retiring" this year.
Just wait for Oleg to announce that he's going pro along with loads of veterans.

Wiggins and A Schleck is coming out of retirement and aiming for the TDF.
Claiming that if need be he'll fight Froome on and off the bike.

A Tour Team with Wiggins, A Schleck, Hesjedal, Purito, Cancellara, F Schleck, Tjallingi, Popovick & the Road Captain Oleg.

I think Oleg would crash into Froome in 1st neutralised section. Bouhani would think it was intended for him and start a fight with oleg and injure himself.

I've got all of this from a reliable source

If that is who Vaughters thinks can win PR, they it is yet another proof that Canondale is the worst team (considering there size) in the worldtour. They consistently sign gd riders and do *** with them.
They also pretend they are going to win things and then don't even top 10.

I don't think he'll be better surrounded and supported in races at Cannondale as he was at Lotto Jumbo

That seems like a totally pointless move.

Money. That's the only possible reasoning behind it.

I doubt they'd have lots of more money at Cannondale, but he's brother will be again ad DS which he wasn't anymore at Lotto Jumbo

Think with Van Marcke its about money and a change. He got lots of support at Jumbo. Cannondale is a good choice by Van Marcke.

I don't believe it's possible that Cannondale made an offer that couldn't be matched by other teams money-wise. It's a combination of few factors that caused Vanmarcke's decision to go there.

Everything is relative, and a big prospect costs less than an established winner, but I suspect that Carthy cost them a fair bit.
