The other Yates to Trek...

Wait, I thought Trek wanted Simon Yates.
Me too. Anyway, MS will be able to keep both Yates bros with all the $$$ they’ll get for Haig and Ewan.

Think Beppe Conti is getting the same mail as - 99% certain one Yates will leave and it will most probably be Adam.

Unless, of course, they want to keep Haig and Ewan too.

Beppe Conti indiscreto yesterday:

Quintana to Astana
Landani would make much more sense.
Would it? Nairo and Unzue aren't exactly on great terms.
There were already rumours of Nairo changing team last year and Astana doesn't seem to be happy with their current situation as their only big gc prospect doesn't seem to be quite good enough to win gt's, so I agree this move would make a lot of sense.
Let's also look at this from Movistar's perspective. Right now they have three big leaders which some might argue is too much. Moreover they have Soler and Carapaz who could both develop into big stars too so getting rid of one of their current leaders is the logical thing to do. Valverde won't leave Movistar, that's a given, so it's between Landa and Quintana. Another crucial factor could now be nationality as Valverde probably won't be riding for much longer while the team also doesn't know how good Soler will become. If they sell Landa that could therefore mean that in a few years the biggest Spanish team doesn't have a big Spanish star. That probably isn't Movistar's dream scenario so if they have to my guess is they would rather keep Landa than Quintana. It all depends on the tdf though and if Quintana performs significantly better than Landa they will definitely want to keep him

Haig is under contract.

So they do, indeed, want to keep Haig. And they already are.

Gigs98 is correct. There have been rumors since last year that Quintana is leaving and isn't happy there. There seems to be a rift between Quintana and the Movistar management. At Catalonia this year Quintana did not appear happy that he was there to work for Valverde and the team had to tell him on the radio to not work in the attempted break/attack. There were rumors of Quintana and Landa not getting along at Basque because Landa was race leader there as it was his home race. Quintana's comments about not wanting to race much and not wanting to win race early in the year due to it wearing him out before the Tour. Those comments didn't sit well with Movistar's management (or many of their fans either). Last year Unzue made some comment that he thought Quintana had hit his ceiling and had started his decline as well. Then last year also had Quintana wanting to do the Giro/Tour double and make all kinds of comments about it before hand, the team not wanting him to do that and finally saying fine do it. Then after the collapse during the Tour saying it was Movistar management making him do the Giro/Tour double also didn't sit well with Movistar's management. So yes there is a rift there and it doesn't appear to have improved.

Great move for Ewan and Lotto. Greipel isn’t getting any faster and Ewan gets his train. With Sieberg to position him, Ewan might not be sacrificing position to Gaviria so often.

Yeah that is a good fit.

It seems a very good fit - Wonder if Ewan will take Mezgec with him.

Is Zubelduo (Konrad/Buchmann) staying with Bora? Both seems stronger than Majka these days.. No way they want to dom for him.

I'm pretty sure that Sieberg will go wherever Greipel is going. They are only available as package.

Yeah, I think so too.
But having Sieberg as a leadout man for Ewan would be an interesting sight. Sieberg makes Greipel look small!

They absolutely should stay with Bora. They get excellent opportunities to ride for themselves there, better than they would currently get at any similarly large team. Also Bora seem to invest in prospective leaders long term. It’s a good place to develop.

Valgren is in a contract year, and since nothing is yet announced, this close to TdF, I don't think it is a given, that he stays with Astana.

There are several of the GT focused teams, that could use a classics captain like Valgren, and some of them have more money than Astana.

Wherever he ends up, he deserves some good money. Not only can he win both hilly and cobbled classics, but his rolling skills combined with not being an awful climber make him a very good domestique for GTs, especially since teams numbers have got reduced and versatility counts for more than ever. He would be one of my main targets to sign if I were a WT team manager.

Completely agree

For a GT captain, he can fill the role Kwiat is doing for Froome or Naesen is doing for Bardet...... or actually, that Valgren is already doing for Fuglsang.

BTW I think Fuglsangs performance at the tour, is a big decider for Valgren.

If Fuglsang takes a podium spot, Astana is sure to give his crew, another full ride to the tour next year, which may make Valgren want to stay, to both be a classics captain, and ride for the captain he wants in GTs.
