Baroncini deserved that after having to try and mediate the Soler's of the world in the Vuelta.

They need 10 more wins to get Columbia - HTC on FirstCycling, 2009, the stacked one with Cavendish, Greipel, EBH

You have to respect how tirelessly and shamelessly the US spreads propaganda and pretends that they are not the biggest supporter and enabler of the biggest rouge state in the world. Even on their own they are at least in the top 5 in the rouge state rankings, not counting their support for Israel.

Almost all sporting events in the US are like a military parade of a third world dictatorship. Since the regime there uses sport only for jingoistic propaganda as it is the main lifeline of the so-called "bipartisan" oligarchy.

Surprised that this NY Times article, although mainly focused on the NBA, doesn’t include a mention of the UAE team we know so well.
I don't get what tension one might expect from such a combination. You (profess to) have ideals and you do business. What is there to square? What is the coherent alternative? I think such problematisations are usually raised from a confused stance with uninterrogated premises that would lead to very extreme conclusions if fully fleshed out. Must we abandon all ideals in order to engage with the real world, messy as it is? Must all trade and collaboration between "good" and "bad" states end to ensure the purity of the "good"?

Or more relevant for this thread: what is so wrong with "sportswashing"? What are the petrodollars better spent on?

It's not my money. I don't think giving it all to charity is on the table (although sponsoring cycling almost qualifies for that).

Which of their alternative investments are better to you?

Im not trying to get political.... just that your post was off-putting, ignorant and distasteful.

We move on.

It’s a hopeless cause because there seems to be an insatiable appetite for bullsh*t these days. I just don’t want to hear FIFA or the NBA or UCI give us the “growing the sport” bull when it’s purely about making money.

Unfortunately, naked honesty would likely be received worse.

Not sure if this is the right place to say this, but I really hope UAE is not going to be allowed to give the rainbow jersey the same treatment they give to NC jerseys.
I've never seen a team f*ck up a WC jersey before so I guess UCI actually applies the rules at least in this case?

77 now. Likely to get 1 or 2 win more in CRO

8 one day races left in italy with Pogacar and Hirshi on the team.

And then Guangxi with Wellens, Del Toro and Molano.

I think they can do it
They need 87. Very hard. Pogacar can get 3 more wins. Croatia will give one more at least. But they need 6 more
