According to As, the TAS hearing has been postponed to mid July-early September, get this, because Contador's lawyers have requested it. They want more time to get their defense ready. Or maybe they just want Contador to ride the Tour.

Next time someone complains about the matter taking forever, let's bear in mind who's to blame: Contador, the UCI and the RFEC. They're all on the same boat.

Yes, let's aim at serving the ban in the offseason and badger CAS to let him keep the 2011 results.

Who would have thought.

I am pretty sure that they will let Dertie ride - simply because he is money.

Of course they will be hoping that i) he doesn't **** hot in the Giro and ii) he is cleared by CAS because if Dertie rides - does the double and then gets popped it is going to be another steaming turd on the face of cycling (not that anyone at the UCI, RCS, REFC, ASO will face any consequences for it).

what a farce.
I remember Riis and Contador stressing how much they want the case to be ressolved as quickly as possible.

Would be a complete nightmare if it's not resolved before the start of the Tour. Can you imagine AC having two Tours and a Giro stripped in September FFS???

Contador is a joke, always has been so 'certain' of his defence and now feels the need to draw it out till July. I hope CAS will deny the request of the lawyers

is it still only a request or has it been replaced already?

That's why I think there's a good chance that ASO will ban the entire team or AC. Why risk having him participate, win, and then having to take the title from him because he gets banned in August or September?

How likely would it be for AC to decide that he will not do the TdF??

I think they will ban Contador but they wont ban SBS.

What evidence could his team possibly come up with in the extra months?

Exactly their defence should be the same all the way through - he ate bad meat

I hope CAS see through this.

be funny if CAS say ok then Contador or Saxo are told they can not ride the tour so they appeal to CAS, who can not rule till after the tour starts, Riis and Contador have hissy fits about how long the process takes etc etc.

Be 2 tour titles if he is banned after winning 2011 ( if he does win)

Guaranteed if the hearing takes place after the Tour and Contador wins it he'll get off.

I said it before and I'll say it again-with the Armstrong investigation in full swing, they cannot afford to let Contador sink.

Cycling can't handle both scandals at the same time, and it will mean the winner of three of the last four grand tours will get stripped of his wins.

That's not happening.

Unfortunately that seems excatly what Contador's defence team is hoping for since they're clearly trying to put pressure on CAS. It would've been much easier to take away a single Tour win that two Tours and a Giro...

I wish the TdF organisers had the possibility of rejecting Contador from this year's edition but don't they have an agreement with UCI that they have to let the ProTour teams in? If I recall correctly when Astana was banned they didn't have such an agreement.

I'm not sure the ASO can really keep Contador out of the Tour, the RFEC found him innocent, and untill CAS decides otherwise, he is just that.

Besides, the ASO has become a lot less tough on doping the last few years, I'm not sure they even want to ban him.

I think the TDF will be more exciting this year if Contador doesn't ride. I think more riders will fancy their chances and will ride more aggressively, producing a good show.

I hate it that Contador has 'already served' 7 months, no he hasnt.. He has been racing the sport he loves and the sport he has cheated on, tbh let him sit 2 years out of competition.

When you race you obviously dont serve months, its bull****. If you don't race then you serve.

I don't know about that. If Andy is his usual self and AC isn't participating, Andy will come to the Tour and simply drop everyone on the climbs. This year's TdF would be more competitive if AC is there. However, I think it's better for cycling in the long-term (when CAS makes a decision) that AC not participate.

I've had it to up here with this case. They are going to stall it and stall it, Riis want return on his investment.

Tour de France + Contador + Hearing after TdF = I'm not sure I will be watching that. Maybe some stages.

Allow doping. Or keep it forbidden and deal with it swiftly. But what they do now is going to be the death of the sport.

I'm so tired, haven't been so tired of this sport as I am right now.

If he is banned whever the case is actually heard, I can see him keeping all of his results this year.

He has done 7 months already, so then maybe 5 months or 17 months from Aug/September onwards.

I can see him not getting any sanction though.

Are you serious? He hasn't served any months because he's been allowed to compete.

He was suspended from the announcement of the positive in August to whenever RFEC declared him innocent in February.

I've always assumed that those months would be taken away from whatever sanction he gets.

Oh wait, the announcement was in September. 6 months then.
