The worst part of it. If Boom or Langeveld has a miracle day and actually manages a decent result, nobody will complain about the utter moronic selection he made

So now I actually have to hope they all fail so Van Vliet gets fired:mad:

Who appointed this clown anyway? He doesn't really seem to have his finger on the pulse of Dutch cycling, apart from Amstel Gold I mean. He's more of an "en nou die handjes de lucht in" type of guy.

The KNWU is king in appointing clowns.
For example Thorwald Veneberg...

I heard stories from Nations Cup u23 races which don't make me happy. The guy had no clue what he was doing and in the end it's other people, the people I heard the stories from, who ended up doing the real work.

Van Vliet gets paid to do 1 thing, make a decent selection, and he doesn't even manage that

Paul Martens has been added to the German squad for the Worlds. Not a bad decision IMO, he's shown amazing form in the two races since his return.

I wonder who got kicked out...

@ 'Stoned.

Too bad there isn't a cycling version yet:

Schade Deutschland

But it is in line with your chances :p

Always a pleasure to see the Oranjes die with elegance.
But nice palmares: 3 times vice-worldchampion :p

The worst thing about this orange caravan is, that it is pulled by Greipel for 3 laps and he finally raises his arms for victory when he crosses the finishline - with caravan.
He already adviced the mechanics to construct and install a trailer coupling.

The pace, parcours and field in the Worlds is>>>>>>>>Philedelphia.

I'm aware of that but the point is that performance as well as a strong showing at the GP Ouest France tells us that him finishing with a lead group is at least a remote possibility...
And as its one of his "goals" for the season (he is just a neo-pro) I'm sure he's preparing accordingly and will be super motivated.

Belgian are not used to pronounce "G" in English?

I don't know.

English is notoriously inconsistent, so it's perfectly reasonable to think it is Geelong with a "g" as in "green".

But it is actually "g" as in "generosity".

Someone should let English speakers know that they pronounce almost every single foreign name wrong. Welcome to the club.

Erm...no!!

Erm, yes. The Canadians absolutely butchered Vandewalle's name today, most recent example.

...they got an awesome mistake-rate in pronouncing foreign names.

I don't think I've ever heard any English speaker pronounce Kim Clijsters' name correctly. Or Kim Gevaert's.

How do you correctly pronounce it?

It's the <ij> that they always get wrong, turning it into ai. Claisters, where it should be a sound that comes closest to the vowel in they.
