Next, there will be a counterpetition urging the President to leave Lance alone. I wonder which one will get the most signatures?

I think we can all agree that a complete investigation into this money wasting witch hunt would be a good thing

Oh my, yes! Unseal all the grand jury files and transcripts, unshackle the poor handcuffed investigators, and let the truth spill out for all to see! Alleluia!!

Yes, this is completely unfair to Lance! I signed the petition to exonerate him! That's what it was for, right?

Also, because I know Matt Drudge enjoyed the Monica Lewinsky insanity the first time around, I thought he'd like to know what his old buddies the Fabricator, Lehane, and Breuer are up to now.

Thanks to ScottSocal for putting that thought in my head. Unfortunately Breitbart had a Livestrong.com ad on his site so he's probably out. You never know, those GOP people are kinda nuts. Rush Limbaugh and Joyce Kaufman in FL also received "notices." We'll see if they want to revive old battles with Clintonites and Boxer.

Interview with WSJ's Reed Albergotti

Prosecutors wanted to indite, overruled by Birotte
This will go on for a long time

On my wire there's a new article coming out. Not on doping but on the pressure applied to get the result they wanted. There's also an interview with a former witness who was pressured to change testimony. The article is deliberating staying away doping and livestrong. Stay tuned.

I did say it was over. And it is but there's a little bit of mud still to be thrown about.

and from theHog:"There's also an interview with a former witness who was pressured to change testimony."

Now this really doesn't sound like it should 'just go away'.

Really? You mean you can't stop them in a bar and tell them

that his legal team would "(expletive) destroy you," "tear you apart on the witness stand," and "make your life a living (expletive) hell."

“ A week is a long time in Politics “ , a well known expression , but those in the forum who “ Hate ” have another 2 years or so to work on the collection of 25000 signatures for their worthless petition ! Fact is there are 7 to 8 billion in this world and there are a miserable few , perhaps 50+ , who with nothing better to do with their life spend their time spewing the worse kind of bile in the direction of one man , Lance Armstrong !

That this past week has been a watershed in Cycling Sport does not need repeating ! Ulrich , Contador and Armstrong matters all disposed of in a variety of ways , but better for all that they stay closed . It seems to me that there are many with an excess of energy so I would propose that they get the message out to help Cyclists by signing on to assist the “ Cities fit for Cycling “ campaign ! Reading “ The Times “ articles makes it clear that it is not just the UK that will benefit , since there are indications that Italy and Holland see the merit and value of this campaign !

SO , are the “ mushrooms ” going to move forward into the future and help their fellow man or are they going to sit on their hands decrying the past whilst support dribbles into their petition ?

You can also get out and pedal your bikes or you can sit here peddling more bile and mischief that NO POLITICIAN will touch with a bargepole until after the new Presidential Term has had it’s 100 day honeymoon in 2013 !

There was an item in the news recently about social media being more important to some than sex ? Guess there are some that need to escape from the trials and tribulations of Real life ! At 66yo and with the temperature of -14 C here in Austria , I am pedalling in the house once again , rather than slogging up the local ski piste on the skins . This time last year I was riding the roads of Mont Ventoux in +14 C with blue skies , life ain’t fair is it ?

Have you considered English might not be his first language?

Regardless I think what he is suggesting is that certain posters (Harry Potter, Hermoine and Ron as well as other members of the Order of the Phoenix) move on with their lives and make the future a better place instead of trying to rewrite the past.

It is clear by now that many witness, investigators, and prosecutors were shocked that evidence was ignored and the case was shelved. If you feel the same I suggest checking this link.

If this succeeds we may get a clue on whether this was a one-man decision or not. Otherwise I fear this is going to be a mini-JFK. In any case it would be very interesting to hear the statement, even for those on neither side of the Armstrong fence. We would need an approximate average of 1,000 signatures a day for the next month, and with 72 in two days I'm not holding my breath. I'm not an epidemiologist, but I imagine the number of daily signatures will increase until it reaches a maximum and then start declining--sort of an inverted parabola shape. Unless, of course, the link gets published in a major cycling publication this month (any chance of that?), in which case we would probably see a spike big enough to break the 25,000 in one or two days. I will keep a daily log just out of curiosity.

I had an old American passport and email address in the attic. 73 now.

Only 24,000 to go on a toothless petition! "Please sirs, take a few minutes to make up a reason for ending this investigation. Please, we only ask for the powerful to assert their power."

This reminds me of the petition to USAC complaining about firing Bisceglia for actually doing his job that no one signed. http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/bisceglia-fires-back-at-usa-cycling-and-ochowicz

Americans love their cheaters.... Until the day they are prosecuted.

How is anyone trying to rewrite the past? All that posters here, including me, would like to know is the truth about the past.

Not even close, Jack. If this favor was dropped into the oily gearbox of the executive branch, it is going to be an effective oil indeed. The DOJ and WhiteHouse press folks can trade horses too (and they do). They can effectiveky kill an issue (or make it quiet-down) by trading access to other things that the media is far more interested in. I don't think this case has the mass-interest that some of us might think it does. We're (or most of us are) too close to it to see that.

Remember, Birotte may have masters, but he is and was empowered to make such decisions. Obama will not tolerate the discrediting of an upwardly-mobile-rising-star US ATTY from the 'hoods of Newark. And no one above Birotte's level is going to talk about this. What don't we talk about?:

You're right but I think there will be a lot of leaks. Are they going to bring in an outside prosecutor to prosecute the leaking prosecutors.

They worked close to 2 years on this and made assurances to many people. They know that Armstrong is an outrageous criminal scumbag and I'm sure they are revolted by it. They can't keep secrets this big, even though it's not big in the over all picture.
