Nibali has to improve vastly to be considered a real shark. So far his nickname sounds like a jest cos he is a baby shark in really big games. Though I like his determination and willingness to gain time in any situation. that was so funny to know his nickname a few years ago. 'dammn, he is just a lamb, not a shark!' - I thought :)

He is a shark allright he will be able to impregnate you even though they say you are a man :D

So Moser prefers to call Wiggo "a champion" instead of Nibali, even knowing he had already a GT in his palmares prior to the Brit? I mean-the definition of champion seems to me nowadays a rider "willing to use any means to win at all cost"- If so then I'd agree with Moser on that-but to downgrade Nibbs in that fashion is rather naive....

I can't even accept his disappointment in the Italian team at the WRR considering the basic inexperience of the team. They tried to take the ethical high road by not allowing riders with shady histories and they were left with a team that really couldn't have expected too much more than what they got.
As far as Nibali, it seems Moser is basing his summation of Nibali's value on his own envy at the salary he's bringing in. Nibali IMO deserves whatever he's getting. As someone elegantly put it, he has the heart of a champion and I believe he gets the most out of his talent. MSR and LBL are fine examples of his riding like champion.

I think he tries hard but sometimes his tactics are a little crazy. Good rider but not a great one. He has to win more to prove that.

Well he's a Real Bike Racer; with B*lls and Heart unlike your favorite Baby S.

These riders need to test their tactics, if not, how can they know what they can achieve? They need to fail, so they can succeed.

Michael Jordan (former basketball player) comes to mind.
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

If you watched carefully what Nibali did this year, he definitely learned from MSR and LBL. In the Tour, after attacking and connecting with Sagan (stage 10) and dropping him he realized he couldn't do it all the way to the finish. Of course, his plan included Evans and VDB for that to work.

+1, in failure there is always the opportunity to learn why you failed and to make sure you don't do so again.

If Nibali is a lamb, then AS is just an ant:D

Agree and Moser sounded like a sour grape, basically what he says is if there can only be one champion right now, it should be AC. WTF, this is so obvious, we don't need you to point out.

Who cares whether Nibali can be considered a Champion or not ?

When he is on form he's just a pleasure to watch and that's what matter the most.

I suppose. I was actually willing him on at Liege. It was a daring attack and I wanted him to win. Sean Kelly seemed to think he attacked a little too early. But only a superhuman ride from the winner beat him that day. He slowed when he hit the last two hills and Iglinsky was just too strong on the day. They both rode great races. I think Gerrans and Iglinsky at MSR and Liege showed their experience and tactical sense a little better than Nibali who like you say will learn from those races. Both riders are good opportunists and strong in the classics so Nibali had nothing to be disappointed about although to get close in two classics in one season would be hard to take. Because Nibali does not have much of a sprint and has to win on his own, he would have been more disappointed with Liege I think. He was never going to outsprint Gerrans and Cancellara at MSR. It was a shame that Evans was not in better form in the Tour because I think the other two would have looked to work with him. The Sky team was just too strong.

In other news...Complimenti Vincenzo!

Hopefully being married wont slow him too much on the descents.

- in reference to many riders saying that having a family causes them to take less risks than they did when they were younger.

i agree, i think he needs a proper win at the giro to boost his confidence. rodriguez will be a tough nut to crack but lo squalo's teeth have been getting sharper and sharper every year.
If placing 3rd in last Tour is not a boost of confidence I don't know what is. Btw, Purito said already he's riding the Tour. The total opposite of what I wanted to happen.
