Perhaps nobody recalls, but I esentially said Nibali would win the Giro when he road with us in a race back in April. ;)

I remember reading that ^^ you said he almost appeared to be swimming, didn't you? I was only a lurker back then. Good call on your part.

So who will win TdF? :p

Omg  Yeah let's discuss who's more of a legend

And I agree with hitch and dazed and confused

No one has claimed that it would make Nibali a bigger "legend" than Contador, but people have claimed it'd be a legendary season as winning two grand tours in a year alone is a seldom achieved thing, adding a WC to it would be huge. It'd go down as one of the most successful years in recent history. I also think you underestimate what winning three GTs mean as well. No one in the currently peloton other than Bertie has three or more, and only Basso and Nibbles have two. So, he would essentially become the 2nd most successful GT rider in the current peloton.

Legendary bike rider vs Legendary season.

maxmartin argued for the first if Nibali delivered Giro + Vuelta + Rainbow. I can't see it at this time. Palmares not strong enough at this point. 3 GTs + 1 Worlds (assuming he wins two more biggies this year) but no monuments doesn't look like legendary when compared to the other "great" cyclists.

Legendary season?

Imo, there are two reasons preventing this:

one - we have an established top end series of races involving GTs and its called the triple crown. What would we call the Giro, Vuelta + Wolds? The Triple Consolation? and

second - Nibali needs to beat the perceived top stage racers in a GT in the season. It hasn't happen yet and I doubt it will happen in the Vuelta.

I would call Nibali's season great and perhaps fantastic should he win the Vuelta and Worlds, but I would reserve the term legendary for even better achievements.

The bar must be kept very high indeed.

Again this is just my opinion.

Thanks, very nice. An important Champion.

I wish Nibali, Froome and Contador would commit to a double next year:

A Giro and Tour battle combined. All of them. It would be fantastic for the sport. Think about it.

Okay, I thought about it. But it is not too realistic ;) It is a nice fantasy though - all of them committing to Giro-Tour. I would be satisfied if they all showed up at one.

The last time a rider won a GT and Worlds in the same year was Greg LeMond in '89.

It'll be legendary if Nibali wins the Worlds this year.

The bar is already so high that no one ever did what Nibali has the chance to do this year...
