Nibali's season hasn't been his best so far (unless he redeems himself at the Worlds or something). In my view, he's got another 3 - week Tour in his legs, and a 3rd place in the TdF and Tirreno-Adriático shouldn't be enough for an ambitious rider like him.

I just hope he doesn't become another Cunego and keeps on fading away gradually. I love his aggresive style and would have loved that he beat the Sky guys at the Tour.

Maybe being eclipsed by the Sky train this Tour has somehow made his efforts less appreciated. He definitely deserved a win in the Liege-Bastogne-Liege.

i haven't seen this done deal at all. Nibali has said he would like Ten Dam to join Astana, but nothing else came up in a google search. seems like a misinterpretation.

Did anyone ever see a rumour that Nibali thought the mid-Tour TT was a TTT?

I definitely read that in some port-Tour article talking about why Sky won, referring to their preparation.

It sounds pretty implausible that he could've thought that but it'd be nice to find where I read it.
