It will be hard as he has to drop everyone so he will have to use the longer climb and hold his lead for the rest of the course.
But he is certainly looking like a nice bet.

The problem is that when Nibali attacks everyone will be on his wheel immediately since he's such a big favourite. See Cancellara in 2009.Parrulo said:It will be hard as he has to drop everyone so he will have to use the longer climb and hold his lead for the rest of the course.

I think we'll have a surprise winner instead, someone who gets away while the big favourites are watching each other.

Vino attacks everyone said:Not a Kazakh, but the first year I really followed the sport was in 03, and in PN when Kivilev died and Vino anniliated everyone in his memory sealed the deal for me. After that you can't disilike the most aggressive rider out there. + ofc the fact that he was not the best tter, not the best climber, not the best classic rider, but he still won a GT in an awesome way (watch Vuelta 06 if you have not already), the most magnificent tt in recent history (tour 07) LBL, agr multiple times, the freakin CHamps elysees and more 1 week stage races than I can count. And he won these races by gutsy attacking suddenly at any time everywhere.
And yes, cycling for me is like fotball/soccer is for others, I like some players but it is the team for me all the way baby(because of Vino ofc)

LaFlorecita said:But is the field weak or not weak? That's the question. I guess it depends on the situation. In this case, I bet the field isn't weak.
SafeBet said:I've already expressed my opinion on this but I think Carols said it better.
You don't judge a field on the final GC. You judge it at the beginning of the race. And with Wiggo, Hesjedal, Evans, Samu and Scarponi this couldn't be considered a weak field.
Parrulo said:I was joking with my post. But being serious for a bit now, did you even watch Liege? He was on the group that went away on La redoute, First to attack on the climb that replaced Roche aux Faucons and still finished 9th being second after the guys that missed the group that went away on Saint Nicolas.
Go take a look at the results and see where the people that went away with him La Redoute or the other guys that attacked on the new climb finished compared to him and then tell me it wasn't a great performance.
As I said before. Atm it's relatively weak. Or has it changed overnight?LaFlorecita said:But is the field weak or not weak? That's the question. I guess it depends on the situation. In this case, I bet the field isn't weak.
whittashau said:Wiggo wouldn't have retired from the Giro is he had gotten Pink at the end of the ITT imo. I feel Nibali made Wiggo give-in to his problems by making him doubt himself and his "great numbers". Whereas if Bradley had picked up pink he would have ridden with more determination and fortitude than he otherwise had shown before his departure.
Basically, Wiggo could have ridden through being sick if he had felt things were going well.
As for the wider picture, I think the only riders who are not at the Giro who would be challenging Vincenzo right now are Froome and Contador anyway.

LaFlorecita said:No, it's just that some people seem to change their opinion depending on what makes Nibali come out best.
maxmartin said:And some people will only contribute Nibali's success to either luck or weak field or a combination of both, nothing else. LOL
Netserk said:No doubt that a top-form Wiggo would've been pwned by Nibbles.
