I agree with Laflo and Afrank, all races must be taken into account, btw anyone see Canc's tt today, 77th place! he used to be so good....

It's ridiculous how people say Oman wasn't a target for Nibali. It seems to me that based on his race it definitely was.
Did nibali say that that race don't matter? Then give me the source and even if that's the case the race clearly showed you something different.
He attacked on the descends, on green mountain. And he went together with Contador on the second last stage but felt short then. Maybe a bad day, that can happen.
But he was for sure aiming for a good result in Oman. And nibali is not the kinda guy who is not gonna try and win a race with AC and Froome in it.
And what did Nibali say about BW in Oman? "Don't hide yourself!!!"

The thing is, if I was betting (actually putting money on a rider to win) I would look at experience and how well the riders were going at the moment plus their results closest to when the Giro starts. That would be #1 priority. Then take into account experience and how well the rider is expected to do. Nibali going into the Giro was just better than Wiggans or Evans based on comparing the latest results.
Nibali also appears to be in the right hands with Vino and Astana.
Even if Froome was riding the Giro, I would have backed Nibs over Froome. Based on form right now, tough to say it, but I might pick Nibs over Contador. (But Contador is on another level in my mind - and until he is beaten at the Giro, I have to pick him) Tour of Oman is just enough farther back on the calendar to not give weight to it over T-A. Also this Giro was a better match for Nibs than Wiggo. If the Giro was overall flatter like last years TdF and had lots of flatish TT km's, that would make Wiggo my pick. And, now that I have seen how Wiggo goes in miserable weather in descents, it would need to be a flat Giro d'Italia for me to pick Wiggo FTW.

Not sure how any hype for the best stage racer we've seen this year could be unnecessary? and even if you did feel so you shouldn't let it put you off Nibali, if so then just imagine all the Contador fans you've turned to haters with your ramblings over the years.
