I like nibali and i really think he had a chance of winning this with froome and contador in it. This racing style doesn't suit him, it's like with contador in tour '09.

Imo this tour would have been the greatest tour since '03 if none of them crashed. Now a lot of people are wondering and i think nibali is one of them what would have happened if those 2 were here.

You just know nibali would have attacked yesterday on the port de bales if froome and AC were there.

So sad, it's gonna take a year until i'm really over this lol Would have been such an amazing tour :(

This is all very true and I've been saying this all along. I have been watching closely Nibali since the 2012 Tour when he was the only one fighting a hopeless battle against the Sky Postal. I hoped that someday he will win Le Tour against all odds.

To tell you the truth I didn't believe he will stand a chance against Froome and Contador but I was convinced he would try suicide attacks in any weather and terrain and he would die fighting on the mighty Hautacam just like he did last year on Agliru. This is what I appreciate the most. We will never find out if Nibali would have won this Tour against those two but I am 100% certain he would have given them hell. Just like he did in stage 5.

As far as Nibali's performance so far, he was exceptional in every aspect, honouring the yellow jersey which he took on stage 2 and controlling the race like a real "patron". It is almost unreal what placings he had until now, in any imaginable type of stage (* is yellow jersey):

There has not been a race for GC top spot. 2014 is a gift ride for Nibali. Good luck to him

anyway was difficult to lose with 2:30 in front of them after the cobblestones. In these times you can't make to much difference on the climbs and he dind't push to much until now. And some of the stages were really built for Nibali if those 2 were still in the race.

You're the same dude who though Froome had no chance because he barely beat Keldermn on a mountian stage, even when he and Contador waited multiple times. Valverde is not even in great shape, Valverde would not be having good days then bad days else. He as proven in last few years he should be easily 2nd but he is not in top shape. You will see when Peraud stands on the podium how weak this TDF is. Never got a GT podium in his life and at 37 will more than likely finish 2nd.

I respect Nibali alot im a huge Froome fan but palmares is Contador>Nibali>Froome, i just think the competition is awful. Look how good Majka is after doing the Giro, it is irelevant he is winning from the break, just look how he holds them off still on the last climb. So im sure Contador will be in monster shape, the one stage Nibali had difficulty was a 1.8km hill/mountain, he lost three seconds in a few metres, people say that is not alot? Well lets see how much those three seconds turn into on a HC climb.:D

"My condition's been very good, but I've never looked to push right to the end, I think that you can see this from my face," Nibali said. "When I get to the finish, I've never given everything because there hasn't been the need. You need to think of the following day's stage, where you never know when you could have a crisis or something. So I've never had to push too much."

So, from the man himself. Obviously he could be lying, and I'm sure many a AC and Froome fan will say that he is, but if true it's a little sad. The leader of the TdF should be pushed to the limit at least once.

Judging from the look on his face at the finish, I think Birdsong put more hurt than anybody on Nibali at the end of stage 5. It looked like he wanted to puke as he crossed the line. That was the only time it looked like he was hurting during the whole tour. I wonder what would have happened if Birdsong would have made up his 2 second deficit at the time.

I agree. A lot of people are claiming that he doesn't show it on his face when he's in red, but he looked pained as hell on stage 5, and far more so than when AC gapped him.

Yeah, it seemed like he really did not want to give up any time to Birdsong, where as against AC, he didn't want to go fully in the red. Birdsong rode a very interesting race as he seemed like he was going to go after Booms late move but Nibali was unable to follow so he held up for him and then pulled him to the finish. Then approaching the finish I thought Birdsong seemed to go hard with Nibali struggling to keep his wheel. After that, I thought to myself that I'm not sure how much I can trust him if he is allowed to be that close in the standings.

Absolutely Froomesque the way he passed Majek with the high cadence and not even getting out of the saddle. Unbelievable! Extraterrestrial!

So you think he can beat Froom now?

Nibali should go to Spain and prove he can beat Froome. He has not been pushed here.
No doubt he will go on Holiday and dodge doing that too soon.

He wouldn't dare !

Yeah, its not like having ridden TdF at the highest level has effect on your condition for Vuelta.....
He should just prepare his peak for next year and enter the ultimate battle between him, Contador, and Froome

it ain't going to happen- Nibbs will take a deserved time off with his family to enjoy the perks of victory, and reset his mind and soul for the World's & Lombardy.....:)

Next couple of years there will be many more excuses. Personally I hope Nibali proves me wrong. I just like to know who is best !

He's about to win the best GT there is. No reason to ride La Vuelta. He'd rather play with his daughter.
