The world is full of stupid people, and unfortunately big events like the TdF bring them out of their basements. The ones who interfere with the race certainly are not fans.

I'm waiting to hear what they have to say at the hospital.

To add insult to injury nibs has to take a 65 km ambulance trip while the air is full of helicopters.
If froome went down in the same manner they would have called the army.

It just sucks that the guy who might have been the main animator for the race in the third week might be out. If Nibali abandons and Froome, Dumo and Thomas all crack in the third week (which isn't even that unlikely due to different reasons) I...now I don't know how to finish the sentence, cause my english isn't good enough to express such anger. Let's just say I'd be fuming.

He was very good today which makes this even more painful, I'd say he had a good chance to win on Alpe and then fight until Paris with the two headed monster. No more words really and waiting for an official medical update.

Re:

This was it guys. Probably the last gt where the favorite rider of my youth was a serious gc contender. This is just such a bad gut punch

So very sorry if he is leaving the race. Was extremely impressed with him riding back after the incident. From what I understand he was not making much effort to ask for the same time as the leaders, which gets my appreciation as well. Unexpected things happen during a race, and he responded in the best way possible, by getting on with it, and trying to make up what was lost.

First time in his career he has to abandon a GT.
I guess it had to happen at some point. Hopefully he can recover in time for the WC.

Sooo sad :(
I heard 15 days without touching his bike, could it then be enough to prepare for Innsbruck?

Very disappointing for him (obviously), but also for the race. I still believe that Thomas, Froome, and Dumoulin are potentially vulnerable in the third week. Nibali had looked like the most likely candidate to take advantage of that possibility. Now we are left with Roglic, Bardet, and Landa. Roglic hasn't shown that he can ride for GC for three weeks and the other two will likely lose a lot of time in the TT.
