I'm done watching this race.

There isn't really anything left in it.

No words can express my feelings, it's like 2007 all over again.

I agree. This was already the worst Sunday of my life when I went to bed at 6AM. Waking up a few hours later to see Vino crash out of the Tour, most likely never to return, is disheartening. I feel like the personal loss I suffered is twice as bad now that Vino's gone.

Vino is the LEGEND

No matter what will happen later on, whether Alexandre will be able to ride or not, the fact that he is a real CHAMPION and the LEGEND is not to be disputed.

He will be counted as an iconic figure of the whole era in the cycling sport, a man, who has proven himself as man of honour and massive endurance.

Great person, great rider and great son of his country.

Kudos grande Vino and hats off to you, stay strong as you always do.

when vino came back after his suspension i ran an exploration poll here to take pulse of the landscape.

to my surprise, unlike for the the majority of 'returnees', vino scored quite favourably.

we can clearly see the reason - the man is racing with his heart after his tactical mind calculated the odds. today was just that day.

it did not work.

how did vino respond ? after the race there was no whining, no blaming others, no self-pity....

'it will work next time', he laconically told the interviewer in so-so french.

we will miss you vino. Perhaps you will be able to train athletes with Tyler Hamilton.

Vino hit a tree and the tree hurt.

Vinos leg injury comes just at the right time. Once Vladmir gets the (bribed) judges decision against the Goral in 2 months, there will be no one left to challenge the Klitchkos.

Vino cant cycle as he has a leg injury, so he needs another sport.

Just at the right time.

Vino:
I never expected such a dramatic end on the Tour de France. This is a terrible disappointment to me, I am so sad tonight. But I want to reassure me by telling me that it could have been much worse. The injury will stop me for quiet a long time, and I will follow the Tour on television to support the entire Astana team. I know my friends of the team won’t forget me and they will do everything to win at least one stage.

thank you for sharing. breaks my heart :(

This is so sad! :(

Vino wasn't a guy who spoke alot, yet he talked all the time. He basically talked with his legs!

Yesterday I was rooting for Costa because... It's Vino. He'll just try again. Now I think I wish things had been different!

:( nooooo vinoooo

so so so sad. totally ruined my day hearing the news.

it must have been a big tough tree because i would have thought his legs would have broken the tree not the other way around.

a rider like vino only comes around once every few decades. honoured to have seen it.

Kashmar!

Sad day for Vino, cycling and Kazakhstan. His combative spirit will be greatly missed. Liggett and the rest of the Anglo-centrists will now sing his praises only now that he is gone.

That is stupid, they are more complementary than the doping cheater deserves. No one likes to see a crash / broken leg / shunt, myself included, but I am glad the guy's not in the mix going into the mountains...what a trainwreck...his antics and impulsive bravado are NOT a complement to the peloton and this year could be positively unsafe.

Although I am not a fan and my opinion of him as a rider was further lowered in the wake of his positive dope test & his reaction to it, I have to say that your analysis of his riding this year is way off. He hasn't caused any crashes nor was he to blame for the crash that may very well finish his career.
