How long have you been watching grand tours for? For the last 15 years they haven't even a single time tried to control breaks when it's a guaranteed Valverde flat group sprint, so there's no way they'd do it for an uphill finish

I think Movistar was expecting a Quintana attack. That's why they threw Amador in the break.

Really the only legitime reason to not show the leader's jersey.

Valverde being an actual potential winner is all you need to know for how bad this GC race has been

Hopefully Mas can make something happen for the surprise factor or something.

At least the climb was nice and Woods rode well to win the stage

True. He's for sure not the favorite. But he seems to be getting stronger and stronger, Valverde showed weakness on longer climbs, Yates is also showing some cracks and Lopez is behind him and can't make a difference.

They had a camera on front of the Yates group and behind Quintana. That camera bike at the front stalling on the steep gradients could actually be a decent explanation.

Looks like the orgainsers prioritized the experience of those on the mountain, rather than those watching on TV. Correctly.

What an atmosphere - no room for a moto to pass through the crowds - but it must have seemed epic for the riders.
